"Star Wars vs Star Trek" - DVD

Anyone see this "documentary" from Passport. Found it for $3.99 at one of the discount DVD stores.

The doc tells the story and history of both films with such rare facts as that C-3PO and R2D2 were "robots - also known as 'droids'". Wow. Must have taken a lot of research to unearth that bit of trivia.

The quaility of the footage is awful. The footage consists of clips from the Star Trek tv shows and movies that appear to be shot at a fan convention. No footage of Star Wars is included.

They do use old interviews with many cast members that look like they were tapes of tapes that were borrowed from some one's mildewy basement.

And the word Passport is emblazed on the screen for the entire lenght of the film. Seems that they don't want someone missusing their footage - like they misused Lucas's and Paramounts.

By the way..."this dvd is neither endorsed nor authorized by 20th Century Fox, Lucas Film or Paramount Pictures."

Yes, I own this DVD. While not stellar quality ... I thought it did a decent job of comparing/contrasting the two in terms of how the fans have responded to them.

damn, i had hoped it would be a CGI-showdown of a star destroyer vs. the enterprise to finally settle 20+ years of nerd debates

Unfortunately, I think the argument is all but over after the releasing of the prequels.....

Star Wars fans just don't have anything left to fight back with! Even the horrific Star Trek V and Insurrection don't hold a candle to TPM or AOTC...

bah, star wars will forever be more fun than star trek. If you dont like the prequels, then dont watch em... eps 4-6 own all and always will.

Now... lets see the Death Star vs a Borg Cube....

oh god. a star wars/star trek comparison.

dont even try to say star wars has fallen behind star trek. lol.

star trek is episodic at this point. it's just an over produced 2 episode story.

you have to respect a movie that trys to be something interesting, something important over a movie that exists just because there hasn't been one in a while.

star trek's movie career is over it seems, and they've no one to blame but themselves. star wars is over in a few years. and it's not over by lack of interest.

Which film has made more money? At the box office and in merchandise?
