Looking for a television (Sony KV24FV300*)
Hi guys/gals, I'm on a budget right now so I've cut back on some luxuries in my life, but I MUST have a tv replacement. I've been jonesing for a Trinitron for as long as I can remember, so pricing one out with my budget I came up with the KV24FV300. It's a 24" Flat Screen with fairly good features, but I don't know a whole lot about all that techno-gadgetry so it looks fine to me.
Would you more knowledgeable folks advise on a different set or is this the best for the budget I have to work with? I guess it's between 300-400 USD. Sonystyle.ca sells it for 649.99 CND which I'm sure other retailers sell for less. Bestbuy anyone? It's also my understanding the FV series is better than the FS..
so any thoughts?
Thanks kindly for any feedback,

Do you have to get a 24" TV or can you move up to a 27"/32"? That 24" Sony is alot of money for such a small TV. A couple weeks ago I bought the 24" APEX Flat screen from Best Buy for $125. Amazon has this deal on the 27" Panny TAU.

Thanks for replying. That particular item from Amazon is only shipping within the US and I am not in the US. The duties and brokerage fee would be killer for a product like that.
I will see how it is at BestBuy, they finally opened a store here in Canada (Toronto) so I'm sure they will have some prime pickings on display. Though right this moment I'm very much sold on the Trinitron and I figure 24" to 27" is not a great difference, as well with the 32" the weight would be unbearable. It's more of a personal preference than finance.

I know how you feel. A few years ago I bought a Toshiba 20" flat screen TV for $299 US. At the time it was the only 20" TV with component video inputs, which was important to me. I could have bought a 27" TV for a similar price. But the TV was for my own personal use, and I wanted the best picture quality for the money I had.

The 24" sets don't have this feature, it stops at the 27" sets. 3" may not be a lot to you, but maybe seeing upwards of 150 or so more lines of resolution is? Without Enhanced Mode all your DVD's will show the low resolution scan lines of an analog set. With EM, kiss scanlines goodbye forever and enjoy how an anamorphic DVD is meant to look without paying the high price of a widescreen TV.
