Music rediscovery. What have you listened to again? Share your thoughts.
So, I was cleaning out some boxes at my house when I discovered a box of old cassette tapes I had when I was growing up.
Being only 29, the tapes aren't all that old.
Anyways, when I was growing up, I used to love to make mix tapes with all the songs from my tapes I loved.
I happened to find one and listened to it and was loving it.
Its kind of my tribute to the power balled
What other things have you rediscovered?
In case anyone is curious, here is the track listing.
Side A:
Feels Like A Hammer- Dangerous Toys
I Won't Forget You - Poison
Open Your Heart - Europe
Carrie - Europe
Cryin' - Vixen
Save Your Love - Great White
Foolish Beat - Debbie Gibson (okay, I know this is not a power balled type song, but I still like it.)
Jelly Roll - Blue Murder
I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi
Coming Home - Cinderella
Don't Close Your Eyes - Kix
Sometimes At Night - Gorky Park
Side B
Love Bites - Def Leopard
Love & Affection - Def Leopard
Walk Away - Dokken
I Remember You - Skid Row
Seasons - Badlands
Love Song - Tesla
Paradise - Tesla
Love Don't Lie - House of Lords
Time For Change - Motley Crue
Heaven - Warrent
I forgot some of the stuff I used to listen to.. Probably a lot of those bands no one has heard of or remember now.

Occasionally I get into stuff again that I've kind of forgotten about for awhile. This doesn't really qualify as a rediscovery, but I just started listening to Catch-22 (for 1st time) a ska-punk band. I haven't really listened to that genre in awhile, so its been nice.
I've never really stopped listening to them, but Operation Ivy just got my attention again. They were an obsession of mine for awhile. I just found a website that has tons of their bootleg stuff, so yesterday I was going through it all... ahh.. the memories.

When I was around 10-15 I listened to several groups that I abandoned after getting into New Wave/Punk.
I will now admit what they were:
Carpenters
Barry Manilow
KC and the Sunshine Band
ABBA
Beach Boys
Jim Croce
About eight years ago I got some Beach Boys discs from the cd club and found myself getting heavily into the band again. There was much more to them than just surf and car songs.
A couple years ago I picked up a KC greatest hits and a few ABBA discs. I found ABBA to be quite good and KC to be okay. Haven't picked up the Carpenters, Jim Croce or Barry Manilow though.

I don't know if I should admit this or not... but I am also someone who totally abandoned just about anything that has to do with classic rock for new wave/punk/alt. Lately, I've been feeling a bit of nostalgia and started to buy some used (cheap) ELO discs. I loved them as a kid. Some of this stuff is so melodic, so catchy. I can see why I liked them when I was younger.

Rediscovered Music. I'm rediscovering music I used to listen to a lot but never owned. recently I've added a lot of the following to my collection:
The Smiths
The Cure
Joy Division
Maybe I should stop posting on this forum and go see a shrink!
Also The Clash and Bad Religion. Whoo. Happy again. No, wait, that's just faster....

Back in college I got the Superchunk - No Pocky for Kitty album when it first came out based on the recommendation from a friend. I really didn't care for it that much at the time and never listened to it again. 10 years later, I was gathering up some ancient CDs that I never listen to so I could get rid of them and came upon it again. I decided to give it another listen before getting rid of it. Glad I did, I loved it and now they are one of my favorite bands - got all their CDs now.

A thread last week got me thinking of the Pixies, so I had to go pop in Surfa Rosa and how glorious they are. I also recently repurchased New Order Substance, and after being MIA for 2 years found my Depeche Mode Music for the Masses.
