R2 or R4 ROLLERBALL (1975), better transfer than R1?

Hey, Jonathan.e! Where are you? I know you'd know the answer to this one.

I'm getting tired of waiting for the promised R1 re-visit of ROLLBERALL (1975). Besides wanting that Harrison commentary, the transfer on the original DVD was from a fairly dirty source.

I know the R2 (MGM) and R4 (Fox) releases are anamorphic, but I'm wondering if the transfers are from a better source, as well.

if they're from that same dirty source, I'll keep waiting...

I can tell ya, the transfer is struck from same master as R1, but its superior in resolution (due to being Pal) and 16/9 encoded. R4 and R2 are identical transfers.

Sorry, was in Houston accepting the award for player of the year 2018

I see Brett has answered your question though. I’ve got the R4 version although the packaging on the French R2 is very nice indeed:

That cover is very nice indeed. Hadn't seen that one before.

Thanks for the input guys. Glad to hear about the honor, Jonathan. I'll be looking for the special about it on multi-vision.
