Does anyone have any information about the slighlty upgraded PS2 that may be released in the U.S.? The one with the built in remote port, quieter fan, etc....Any info on a release date would be appreciated!

Uh... wasn't it confirmed that the new "online pack" is NOT the new version of the PS2, but just the older PS2 bundled with the network adapter? The new PS2 should support progressive scan dvd playback, have a built-in infrared port, and no firewire.

The on-line pack just has a new model number for tracking but it's the same PS2 that they've been selling.
The PS2 with the added features may not be available until sometime this fall.

From the Best Buy Link:
Product Features
Playback of DVD video recording format discs
Supports progressive scan to provide better picture quality
My Original PS2 does not support these features.

You sure that wasn't the PSX which includes DVD burner, satellite receiver, and something similar to TIVO?

I don't think the PSX is available yet.

I don't see those features in the bestbuy link. The features they list are:
Network Adapter (Ethernet/Modem) packed right in
Find everything you need to experience the vast library of online games
Get connected and play, chat with or challenge anyone you want
Download new game updates
Explore all your favorite game genres, live

Is this from bestbuy? I don't believe this is out yet, since it includes the HDD, and I don't think they've even announced it for release here...
If it keeps the 199 pricetag, I might buy a second PS2 (since my old one seems to be dying)
