More Killzone (Kin) news

OK now I'm curious! Seems like the hush hush around this game is about to become quite the opposite. The screenshot looks impressive (even if it is very grainy).

Trickles of news keep coming out. I think I'm the only one interested in this game.

On a side note, that bloody "Final Destination 2" ad is really getting on my nerves.

In case you're still interested the announcement for this game should be out tomorrow sometime. There's a mention of this in IGN's rumor article right now but I can't access the site for some reason.

The official announcement is out. Info and screens are here and here. Screens looks pretty sweet. Can't wait to see it in motion. The jungle screen looks particularly impressive.

Anyone know what the technical difference is between a polygon and a NURB? Just curious how they got this level of graphic detail on the PS2.

I'm skeptical as hell, considering how much better it looks than Halo. I'll be most impressed if they pull this off.

That picture looks....ok. I see some grass, some rocks, a couple trees, and a draw distance of about 10 yards. Looks like Turok: Dinosuar Hunter.

I don't know why the screens are so small and all tinted yellow/green, but http://games.kikizo.com/media/killzone_aug2/07.jpg]this pic[/URL] looks impressive especially if it's in real-time. Wish we could see the game in motion. Anyone have the edge magazine article text?

EDIT: Can't get the darn pic to link. I'm talking about the overhead one of the 2 tanks.

The style reminds me of ICO. I always like that style and am eager to see if it will work in a FPS setting.

Here's a good Q&A with the developers for those of you who are interested.

Dragging this thread out of the trenches to show you some new video!! Looks pretty sweet, even in blurry shaky-cam. This site has a good Killzone section with some great interviews and screenshots too.

Some new news from IGN.... Looks like we'll get some hands-on info in the next few days from a few different game sites.

I'm going to keep this thread alive till the game comes out even if I have to go it alone damnit!

That's quite impressive for a PS2 game. This is the first I've heard about it. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

I really hate it when people say that. It is quite impressive for a game, period.

Just because you hate it doesn't make it false. It's impressive for a PS2 game. But if it were a PC game, it would look like a game from 2 or 3 years ago (more if you count the resolution, textures and draw distance). So the qualification is quite appropriate.

Worthplaying has an 11mb trailer available here. Looks pretty tasty, though some of the editing in the trailer seems like someone besides the devs threw this together.

Anyhow...here it is.

My point exactly. If I read that this was a PC game, I probably wouldn't have read through the thread, but the lack of jaggies, and draw distance makes it impressive for a PS2 game.

Don't you mean lack of draw distance? Seeing 20 feet in front of you is impressive? I agree with whoever said it looks like Turok.

Granted there is quite a bit of fog there, but it's better than most console games you see coming out (I'm not saying it's the best, but it's pretty damn good).

I agree the PS2's graphics are starting to look pretty dated

(Cue ensuing comment that the game will never ever ever look that good)
