Paramount's October Lineup. Neato.

These titles will be released:

The Italian Job (the marky mark version)
As well as the original with michael caine from 1969 (which is a heck of a lot better)

Another New release, House of fools is coming.

Catalog wise, finally, some spine tingly good titles coming:

Black sunday
The browning version (1951)
Captain cronos, vampire hunter
Dragonslayer
Frankenstein and the monster from hell
That was then...this is now

and the rest..

(from dvdfile)

Additional titles on Paramount's October slate include episodes of the TV classic The Honeymooners, the movie-of-the-week Conviction, and for the family Dora the Explorer: Meet Diego, Little Bear: Feel Better, Little Bear, Jimmy Neutron: Sea of Trouble and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Complete First Season. Watch this space for the full specs soon...

I missed Italian Job in theaters and I probably won't get to see it with all the other movies I still have to see (Charlie's Angels, T3, Bad Boys 2). I'll definately get that.

Really looking forward to the Michael Caine original THE ITALIAN JOB. Missed the chance at the R2 when it came out. Thought I heard this disc might be coming in November. Glad to hear its earlier than I thought.

Any cover art released yet for CAPTAIN KRONOS?

Ah, come on man. Youv'e been a member here long enough to know that a remake is always considered crap, and the original, no matter how bad it may be, is always to be considered vastly superior.

BTW, I thought the remake was awesome as well.

YEAH! THE CAPTAIN!!!!!

Fumanstan, the rmake is nothing like the original. Ocean's Eleven formula; take the character name(s) and the barest remnants of the original plot, and then play with the rest. IN this case though, the original exceeds the remake, in my opinion. The two Italian Jobs are very different films, so it's unfair to compare really, but I prefer the original any day (no outdated Napster jokes, for one thing. And people were up in arms over Bend It Like Beckham's Spice Girls references... ).

Philo, Paramount's usually tops with using original poster art for covers, so that should be a good sign.

Black Sunday is that with Bruce Dern or the 1960 version of Barbara Steele?

Bruce Dern.

The Mario Bava film you've mistaken it for is already out on a nice DVD.

I'll say one thing, the remake of The Thomas Crown Affair is a heel of a lot better than the meandering Norman Jewison POC.

Hooray for Black Sunday after 9/11 I didn't think this title had a chance in hell of seeing a DVD release. It's a shame Frankenheimer isn't around to give us commentary I'll buy it anyway though.

FINALLY an R1 release of The Italian Job original. I've been waiting for this for ages!

I also liked the remake (even though it pales in comparison to the original one); but as I was watching it, I kept waiting for the awesome finale with the bus from the original, and it never came! I was a little disappointed, but not too surprised. I saw Harry Hill do a spoof of this ending on his show back in '98 - funny stuff.

I'm wondering if Frankenheimer recorded a commentary for "Black Sunday" before he passed on?

THE KEEP is not among the October releases. It's possible next year I would think.
