Kenna. New Sacred Cow.

So...last nite [last nite Tuesday, not last nite Wednesday..] as is my way most of the time, somehow I ended up someplace on the 'net that I hadn't planned on being.

[no, it had nothing to do with porn so get that thought outta your head ya pervert..]

Anyways...for some reason, Kenna popped into my head as I got to eBay. Ok, he really didn't "pop into my head". Rather, the Auto Complete had suggested Kenna after I typed in the letter "K".

Who's Kenna you might be wondering..?

Well, lemme give you a quick 'lil back story. Back in early 2001, I saw this weird [but cool] video for "Hell Bent" on Much Music by an artist named Kenna. After checking around on the 'net, I discovered that he was signed to Fred Durst's "label". I figured the video/song I heard must be a fluke and the rest of his album would be more Limp Bizkit [as they were called back then] type music. So, I decided to scour trusty 'ol USEnet to see if I could find more tracks to see what this guy was about.

After about a week or so, I had 12 tracks. I liked 'em. I decided once the album dropped i'd buy it.

Got back on the 'net.

Checked for a release date.

There was none..Then there was..Then it was delayed.

This went on for a while. Eventually Kenna fell by the wayside.

Fast forward to early 2002. I come across the disc that I had burned the album onto. I started to listening to it again. I played the entire album during my radio show back when I DJ'd at a college radio station.

Again, I checked on the 'net. NOT RELEASED. No reason why either.

So I checked eBay.

There it was. Kenna. New Sacred Cow. PROMO. $40.

Whoa. $40! Man. Should I just bite the bullet and buy it? The only artist i've EVER paid that much for a single promo item was Prince and that was back during my "collecting" days [and back when he still had SOME marbles].

I decided to hold off on it. Hell, I already had the tracks on mp3 and whatever $$$ i'd be spending on the album on eBay wouldn't be going to him...it'd be going to someone lucky enough to get the disc sent to them...for FREE. Sorry. Some people are against downloading music, but I find it ironic that gouging promos like that was/is okay [but I digress..].

So...fast forward to 2003. Late Tuesday nite/early Wednesday morning as a matter of fact. I click on eBay to check my status [I was having some issues with them which have resolved...in MY favour. Yay!]. Clicked on the letter "K" and Kenna came up. So I figured "what the hell". I've tried winning it before [as long as it was still in the single digits...once it hit more than $12, game over]. For some reason, I checked on "Completed Auctions". Nearly every single auction there had ended UNDER $10!! And they were SEALED! "Huh??" I thought. Clicked on one auction to discover that the album had been released on June 10th.

So...the point of this whole thing is...pick this album up. I'm lacking in the eloquence/adjectives that I could use that would convince one to give it a try. [Usually I just say "Buy it and shut up" and that would be it] Nor could I adequately compare it to other artists. I'm not sure if it's due to the fact that it's not possible. Or if it's just not possible for ME. [Probably the latter...]

Here's the album cover --

And Amazon has samples for the first 5 songs. Unfortunately, Hell Bent isn't one of them. That's my favourite off the album. Hell, it's probably one of my favourite songs period. Oh, and I suppose I should mention that it's produced by Chase Chad of the Neptunes [the one that doesn't think he's Puffy by appearing in the artist's videos whose songs he produces].

Also, if it's more convenient, the disc is only $9.99 at Circuit City. REGULAR price. The website says $10.98 & Best Buy has it for $11.98.

Give it a try.

Thanks for reminding me. I remember seeing that video and loving that song back in 2001 and wondering the same thing you were, where's the album. Cool, I'll have to get it now.

Thanks for the reminder. I know the songs from this guy have been bouncing around the Internet for quite awhile. This would explain why I was never able to find the cd. I may have to go pick this up.
