I know that Day of the Dead is about to be rereleased, but what about dawn of the dead? I searched and only found one version that was like 70.00 because it was OOP.

Chris, I believe all dvd's are currently out of print but Anchor Bay is prepping a huge release for probably February 2004 which will contain many, many extras including several different edits of the film.

Here is what it says on their site:

DAWN OF THE DEAD - February 2004

George Romero's masterpiece is coming back to DVD in a big way. Featuring newly re-mastered widescreen transfers (16x9 enhanced), new DTS & Dolby EX Surround Sound, all-new cast & crew interviews, all-new audio commentary tracks, trailers, poster & still galleries and more! Available separately will be the original Theatrical Version and the Extended (Director's Cut) Version. Also available will be a special multi-disc box set including an exclusive presentation of the ZOMBI version of the film from Europe. Expect more announcements in the coming months, and please note all features at this point are tentative and subject to change. Closed Captioned for the Hearing Impaired.

but if you want a good version to tide you over, get the UK version, its fullscreen abd cut by a few seconds, but is the directors cut.
but the single reason for getting it is
TOM SAVINI commentary!! the best commentary ever!

It's not... the so-called "director's cut" is only a longer version prepared hastily for Cannes, and is not Romero's preferred version.

Yup I knew that, but when he was promoting this version in UK a long time ago, he said he preffered this version at that time, so he changes his mind a bit.
