Ahhhhhhh, so Batman wasn't aware of the switch? Not sure you are remembering that correctly. Doesn't seem to make too much sense for Alan Moore to spend all those pages setting up a new backstory for a villian for Joker 2 and then kill him so quickly. Also, don't think Joker 1 was aware of the new Joker. And if Joker 1 needed a double, he could just have put a guy in make up in his outfit (as he did at the start of the book.......)

One of the defining characteristics of Batman is that he will not kill, not even a mass murderer like Joker.

So no, he did not kill the Joker at the end.

What are you talking about? What "Joker 2"?

IF, you're talking about the young kid with the Red Mask...That was -The- Joker's Origin being told and there's only one Joker. As someone said it shows how The Joker probably wouldn't exsist had Bruce not Become Batman. "Yin and Yang" if you will....

Now, here's my question...did Barbara/Batgirl also get raped by Joker? I thought I read somewhere that she was raped and I've also read that he didn't rape her. I think he took nude pics of her. It's been a few years since I read the book.

I've never seen any reference to him raping her. Just that he undressed her to get better pics of her wound, so he could torment Gordon with them.

I think it's deliberately unclear what Joker did to her.

Does anyone have their own interpretation of the last few frame of the story?

They covered it a little more in-depth in an early issue of Batman Chronicals. It's the one w/ Babs on the cover. It starts with her in the hospital and leads through her training and her first acts as Oracle.

Does that Batman chronicle also tell what happened between Joker and Batman?

From what I remember, just that when Batman shows up at Barbaras bedside in the hospital, she yells at him for the moment of he and Joker laughing together, asking him if he thought her being shot and paralyzed was funny.
