Friday The 13th Uncut Back In Stock

The uncut Friday the 13th is now back in stock at dddhouse.com. I got it for 16.50 shipped...which isn't too shabby.

Code 3 NTSC, for those who care.

Any idea if the picture is anamorphic?

Yeah it is. It's a Warner Bros. disc(they own foreign rights). A total Warner disc from the keepcase to the menus. The documentary ain't bad but at 22 minutes don't make it the reason to own the disc.

Bill,

I went for it based on your recommendation. Is this the same print as the Japanese laserdisc version of the movie? I recall seeing something saying it was, but I couldn't find it again. The uncut version of this movie is worth every penny. The gore footage only amounts to a few minutes, but they are very important minutes. The restored footage does Savini's work justice. The Burning is another film which has some terrific work in the uncut version.

Although Savini wasn't involved with Part 2, I am just praying the edited footage from Part 2 will see the light of day:

The following scenes were cut from the film in order to avoid an "X" rating from the MPAA:
A close-up shot Jeff and Sandra being double-impaled while having sex on the bed.
A close up shot of Crazy Ralph and the wire cutting.
A scene at the very end where we are shown the inside Jason's shack and see Pamela's face. While there, her eyes open. It was cut by Paramount for looking too fake.
A facing shot of Mark's face being split by the machete.
Blood was trimmed from the shot of Jason driving the hammer in the cop's head.
The flashback footage showing Mrs. Voorhees decapitation was trimmed.
Bloodflow was cut from the shot of Jason driving an icepick into Alice's head.
Additional bloodflow was cut from the shot of Jason slicing Scott's throat.

A man can dream, can't he?

BOC... hey neighbor! I am unsure if it is the same as the laser disc but... I can't see why it wouldn't be since both are the uncut version. Mine shipped the other day so hopefully once I watch it, I can give some feedback. My girlfriend is who I got it for as she loves this stuff. She will know better than I will what was there and what wasn't originally.

Bill,

Here is what to look for:

The following scenes were cut in order to avoid an "X" rating from the MPAA:
Annie's death was a little bit longer. It showed more blood come out of her throat after it was slit.
Jack's death was originally longer. There was an shot of Jack from a top view. In this shot, the arrow in Jack's throat turns, causing much more blood to shoot straight at the camera, and also in his mouth.
Marcie's death was a little longer. Originally, the axe hits her in the face and she slides all of the way down to the floor.
Mrs. Voorhees' death was actually longer. It took her a little longer to fall down and blood was squirting out of her cut neck.
A scene showing Claudette's death was filmed, but then left out of the final cut. Claudette was actually knifed in the neck.

Someone who has seen the film multiple times, like your girlfriend, will notice right away...

Frozen,

You have a valid comment, and it got me a bit worried at first. But I think I figured out why it says 90mins:

Dvdfile and Dark Horizons referred to this version as the "International Cut" already available in some markets. I'm assuming one of these markets is the Swedish market as noted here:

http://us.imdb.com/AlternateVersions?0080761

If that is the case, it could be a converted PAL transfer clocking in at 90mins. Or perhaps the time is just wrong on the box. Here is a link to someone selling the same version on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=41561

Anyway, I hope it is indeed the uncut version, but I guess we won't know for sure until it arrives...

I'm going to hang on just a bit longer and see what Paramount does with the supposed deluxe editions they were talking about a month or two ago. I mean, I've waited this long, what's another 6-8 months, huh?

But yeah - tell us all about the discs! I might make the jump anyway.

So is this the same documentary that is going to be on the Region 2 release due out in the fall? It seems to have the same name as that one. If it is the same doc, when did this disc become available?

Well, "Johnny" sent me an e-mail telling me they are now "out of stock" and not sure when they will be getting more. Kind of a bummer considering I ordered when it was still "in stock". Opted to cancel my order, rather than wait. Congrats to those who got in...

It'll be about 18 months until any sort of new editions come from Paramount.Late 2004.

I haven't watched it yet. I had to send my cyberhome remote back due to a defect. I didn't want to watch it with the english subtitles. However, just by looking at the back of the cover (according to my girlfriend) scenes pictured are in fact different. So, without even watching it I can say it is uncut.

this has to be your vaguest and most contradicting response I have read from you.

Update:

Got my copy in the mail today:

it is indeed a complete uncensored cut of the movie. Jack's (Kevin Bacon) death is really nasty and bloody.

Although breif at only 22min, the documentary is a fascinating recollection of the making of the film, and critical/audience resposne to the film.

Might have to break down and buy the Region 2 UK edition when it comes out, since it is said to have a full-length commentary from director Sean S. Cunningham.

To clarify if I must....

I cannot remove the subtitles without my remote. That is why I said I didn't watch it. I really didn't want English subtitles across the bottom of my screen. This particular DVD has that to where the subtitles have to be removed. As far as me saying it was uncut just by looking at the back cover? That is correct due to the fact that my girlfriend, who had seen the film several times, said "I don't remember seeing that."

So, I hope that cleared up my vagueness enough for you.
