Wasn't The Net listed at 39.95 when it first came out and now they can't give them away. One of Sandra Bullocks poorest results on film to date. You could also mention Star Trek TOS.

Facets' upcoming release of Claude Lanzmann's 1985 epic (9.5-hour) documentary about the Holocaust: 4-disc set with no extras @ $149.99 (MSRP). They do not discount their DVDs online, so the people who buy it on Facets' website will pay 150 bucks (for this admittedly great film).
Fortunately, other e-tailers are discounting it. For example, both Deep Discount DVD and Digital Eyes are selling it for a little under $80.
It pays to shop around, folks.

I know I may be in the minority, but I think most of the Criterion movies are overpriced.
Don't even get me started on the OOP ones.

Koyaanisqatsi.org were selling a signed DVD of Koyaanisqatsi for a contribution of $180 up until the last year or so (when the MGM version was announced). The proceeds were to help fund the production of Naqoyqatsi. While it was a good cause, and an interesting collectible, that was a pretty stiff price of admission for a single DVD.

I'm sure this isn't what you mean, but considering that the average show on DVD averages about a $50 MSRP (Buffy, NYPD Blue, 24) the X-Files $149.99 for season sets continues to baffle me. Star Trek sets are also overpriced in my opinion.

Also, I think The Godfather DVD set is a little expensive at some stores. With a retail price of $105.90, many stores think this is around a reasonable price. I think I saw a new one at blockbuster for around 70-80 though.
I also think the upcoming release of "Taken" on DVD with a retail price of $119.99 is waay expensive. But it looks like Amazon is selling it for $90, so at least the price is going down.... hopefully.... i'd really like to have this set.

I saw The Spy Who Loved Me at Camelot for $49.00.
Bought The Good,The Bad,and The Ugly at the same place (around $17) way before the price drop

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade special edition. $60 for an above-average movie, 30 minutes of special features, a music CD, and a booklet full of Oshii butt kissing. Yawn.
Some of Criterion's early discs are way too expensive...Amarcord, Great Expectations, High and Low...barebones, above-average transfers, and spectacular movies. Such torture.
The fancy special editions for 2001, Clockwork Orange, and Full Metal Jacket.
I keep putting off my purchase of Criterion's Spartacus...I had no problem paying full price for 8 1/2 (I'd have paid twice as much, frankly), but I just don't care enough for Spartacus to buy it even on discount.
As muh as I love The Godfathers, the boxed set was a bit too expensive, especially considering the lackluster transfers.
FilmFan is right about Shoah. I'll hold off on that until later.
I'm one of the few Criterion lovers who wasn't terribly impressed with Brazil.
Most Creative Design stuff is way too overpriced.
And who would pay $400 for Salo?
