I've just become a Leone fan just after 2 movies I've seen (good..., once.. america). I really want to see this one, but need to see a widescreen print (and unfortunatly, there is none on vhs) so I gotta wait until dvd, and I don't know how much longer I can take.

Mid-November, isn't it? I'd have to do a few searches, but I'm almost positive that's the general timeframe I've seen listed on more than a few occasions.

It's coming. Specs have been announced for a SE DVD in France, and it is expected to be released here, as well. I'm glad I didn't pay an arm and a leg for the widescreen LD, but it is tiding me over well until the eventual DVD. In the meantime, you should see the DVDs of the other two Leone/Eastwood films, A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More.

So I can rent it and get a feel for it, was it ever released in widescreen on vhs?

I don't think so. Amazon doesn't list it, and no one on eBay is selling it, so odds are one was never released.

It came on TCM (lbx) last week on "The Essentials". Should've posted a reminder for it.

Nope. Only fullscreen tapes to be found. But at least they got the opening credits sequence in widescreen (That 15-minute intro continues to be my most favorite opener in cinema)

Last I heard for the supplements was info provided in this link from Alex Cox's site:

Drooling for this!!

I'm pretty sure not--I finally gave in and bought the full-frame VHS after about a year of waivering (this was several years ago). I look forward to finally seeing this movie in widescreen when the DVD is finally released.
