Anchor Bay Drive-In Double Features

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere so I thought I'd bring it up.
I apologize if it's been mentioned already, I don't usually go outside of the Exchange and Bargain forums.

I got this from the Horrordvds.com news page:

"Davis DVD is reporting that Anchor Bay will be releasing their own line of Drive-In discs. Taking a cue from MGM, the releases will consist of two similarly themed features. All the titles included have already been released as single discs, so the supplements and transfer will remain the same. The discs will street for $19.98 or $14.98 a pop, and will be coming out on August 5th."

Here is the list of titles:

A Blade In The Dark/Macabre - $19.98
Circus of Horrors/Theatre of Death - $14.98
Elvira Mistress of the Dark/Transylvania 6-5000 - $14.98
Fade To Black/Hell Night - $14.98
Hell of the Living Dead/Rats Night of Terror - $19.98
The Initiation/Mountaintop Motel Massacre - $14.98
Mountain of the Cannibal God/Cannibal Man - $19.98
Possession/Shock - $19.98
Return of the Killer Tomatoes/Return To Horror High - $14.98
Society/Spontaneous Combustion - $19.98

I'll be getting several of these since many of the titles have been on my list for a while now

Hmmm... double-sided, or both movies on one side? (The latter would be really nasty!) And I wonder if the individual releases will remain in print.

Interesting. At that price point I'll be picking up a couple of them just to check them out.

From my 2002 Chiller Theater Expo coverage ....

Return of the Double Feature
http://dvdtalk.com/cineschlock/chiller02/index.html
Like it, or not, the "value-added" double feature is all the rage among genre distributors. MGM's Midnight Movies line may have solidified the trend, but Seduction Cinema, Full Moon and Something Weird all told me of their emphasis on this approach for future releases. Often a new flick will be paired with an older title, thus doubling it's chance in the marketplace, and without delving into production of time consuming and potentially costly bonus material. On one hand, twice as many titles are making their digital debut. On the other, fans' pet titles could potentially be short changed. It's a trend certain to spark debate.

I might go for the Lamberto Bava disc (Blade/Macabre), as long as it's a flipper.

Great idea...dubious double bills, though.

Fade To Black/Hell Night?
Possession/Shock?

These films are hardly complimentary (though they're each good in their own way, with the exception of the horrid "Hell Night"...)

I already have all of these I want in single-disc editions. Ho-hum.
