Glad to see this set coming out. For those have never seen the show and are not sure about it. WB will be starting SMALLVILLE BEGINNINGS this fall at 7pm on Sundays. Like they did with GILMORE GIRLS, they will be rerunning the first season of the show. Now if only WB would release Dukes of Hazzard on DVD my John Schneider collection would be complete.

Actually, I read somewhere that Alias was going to be widescreen.

Don't know 'bout anamorphic...

Um, I was thinking about buying it until I saw Clark without a shirt on that cover...

I have Dawson's Creek...but I have to retain SOME of my manly dignity, ya know?

Is this show really all its hyped up to be?

I've never watched it...and i hear nothing but good things about it. Is it good enough to shell out the money?

...also, how many seasons are there?...sorry for all the questions

It's as boring as can be. I've never seen nothing happen for an hour as in this show. My wife watches it, and I dont' even think she knew it was about Superman.

I beg to differ. I think the show is excellent, and the fact that your wife can appreciate it without being a comic book afficianado just provides evidence of its broad appeal.

A week ago I just ordered (ebay) the Smallville pilot DVD from Canada, then the next day I heard that the whole 1st season (which includes the Pilot show) will be released on DVD - bummer.

I think I will just burn the rest of the 1st season to DVD from my pc that is hooked up to my cable. The cost is about $1 a show ($24 for the whole 1st season). This will save me about $30 or more dollars.

***By the way, the show is great and my wife loves it (she is NOT a comic book fan).

I will resound and reiterate that the quality of this show is phenomenal. Anyone who has not seen it is missing out.

...oh yeah, and dunpeal...Dawson's Creek and you think you still have manly dignity...lol :P This show is much more manly than Dawson's Creek... insanely more so.

I like the show, I'm halfway through season 2 (Deleted where to get unofficial copies of episodes - Static). If you can get over the whole Clark's secret is keeping him away from Lana thing it's good. But that gets pretty old.

There are a lot of things you have to get over about it really... like for example the fact that nearly every week there is a new villain who just happens to have conveniently and suddenly developed powers stemming from the mysterious "meteor rocks". All in all though, it is a fantastic show.

I could get over the villain of the week thing for season 1. Least in season 2 they try for more of a storyline. Seems a little Buffyish at times with the bad guys.

Sounds like fans will really be getting hosed on the extras...from the list Geoff put up on the home page, most - if not all - of the bonus features are the same ones that existed on the pilot DVD.

Great show, and I'm not one for TV series in general. It is the one thing that my wife and I watch religiously and can agree on. On one hand there are Soooo many subtle and not so subtle references in the show about Clark's desitiny and the comics to make any fanboy joyous. Also it has the romance and crap that my wife likes.

The first season was really good, but at a point became the "freak of the week" season 2 was much better (cant wait for the DVD of that) and the set up for season 3 looks great.

enough of my ramble ... DVD and show highly reccomended.
