Need help picking a HTiB

Ok, a little backgroung infomation: This would be my first home theater, although I have had a DVD player for 3 years.

I only have $200 right now, and if I could get anything half-way decent it would be great. I could probably go up to $300 if I needed to. Like I said I already have a dvd player, and I wouldn't mind sticking with it if only having to get a receiver lower the price. To tell the truth, I feel abit loyal to it, so not having a dvd player might be a plus

As said above it would be my first, so it doesn't have to have many features or anything, just a basic, quality system.

I went to walmart and checked some of their's out and here's what I found:

Durabrand Home theater System- $100 (probably to low of quality even for me.

Sanyo DWM-2500 $188

Audiovox ST525 $140

Magnavox MRD 20037 $148

RCA RT 2360- $199

Those are just the ones below $200.

So, what do you guys think of the ones listed above? What other cheap-but-quality systems are out there?

Thanks for your help in advance!

'Quality' is relative, of course. And at that price range it'll be relatively low! $^)

6ave.com has the Kenwood HTB505 on sale for $229. I'm not sure how much the shipping would be, but either way I don't think you'll find anything better for under $300.

The Kenwood set mentioned above looks awfully nice for the price. For the price you're looking to spend, there's really not many - if any - other good choices.

If you don't mind getting a refurbished unit, from the manufacturer, you can get an HTS650 Onkyo. You can go to Onkyo.com and purchase the HTS650 for $329.00. I've heard nothing but good things about this model. I'm saving up for one myself and I'll probably get this model as a starter Home Theater unit. Good luck.

I have the Kenwood 405 and it's been very very good. I believe the 505 has the same receiver, but a little better speakers. Plus it's in your price range.
