onkyo or polk speakers?

onkyo or polk speakers?

I need some 5.1 speakers so far these two I have look at polk rm6000 http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=0&cc=01&avf=N or the onkyo SKS-HT500 http://shop2.outpost.com/product/3343132 are these any good or does anyone know any better speakers under $300, I plan to hook them up to the pioneer 411 receiver.

go to a dedicated audio store in your town (i.e. small audio shop, not Best Buy/Circuit City type).

They'll be able to work with you to find something better that will fit your budget.

I'd highly recommend looking at PSB, which has some decent models that might fit your price range.

IIRC, the Onkyo speakers are actually make by Polk for Onkyo.

In case you haven't already purchased something, I'll throw in my 2 cents. The Onkyo speakers have generally gotten good reviews at this site and other home theater sites. I got the Polks from Crutchfield last year for a 15x15 family room and am very happy with them. I actually have an Onkyo receiver driving them. The sound is better than I had hoped for. One thing that may be a factor to you is the size of the speakers - the Polks are smaller than the Onkyos.
