Pete Yorn is one of the few acts in the lineup that actually have talent, too.

Well they'll be no names in a few years anyhow. KROQ has become a corporate machine for some time now, they kind of followed the same path as MTV. Both played some really interesting and fresh new music in the 80's, but in the 90's it really started going down hill.

I went, it was a great show! Pete Yorn put on a great set. Interpol was awesome. I was really looking forward to seeing Blur but they were a little dissapointing. The Transplants only played a couple songs and then had the rest of Rancid come out and play the rest of the set. Foo Fighters played a set of greatest hits and were amazing as usual and as they've been doing on their tour had Lyam Lynch come out and Dave Grohl played drums for him. White Stripes were pretty good too. The highlight of the night had to be when the special guest came out. Every year they have a special guest and this year I think they topped themselves with Janes Addiction. It was great to see them and the energy they got from the crowd was great. All in all this was the best Weenie Roast I've ever been to.

I don't care too much for Thrice so I only saw the last couple songs from their set. The crowd seemed into them and they seemed to play pretty good but again I'm not much of a fan so I probably wouldn't be the best person to give a review.

Agreed. I lived in L.A. from 1984-1988 during college. During this time, KROQ was a really cool radio station. My favorite was Rodney's Sunday night show. He always played my favorite bands: The Pandoras, X, Agent Orange, Black Flag, Nina Hagen, etc....

Agreed with darqleo's quote as well...especially living in SoCal my whole life.

Absolut- sorry you're not a fan, but Thrice is getting huge, especially in SoCal. Most of my friends are obsessed with them and they are definitely a band on the rise. I enjoy them as well.

Thrice is the best band on the bill, IMO and would have been the main reason I would have went. Finch, The Used, Transplants, and Sum 41 would have all been nice to see as well.

I actually like the line up, though I'm not a fan of Interpol, Yorn, GC, Chevelled, Staind, Deftones, or Foo Fighters...

As for KROQ being a corporate machine. Possibly.. but they have also been responsible for the success of MANY bands. They introduced Sublime to the mainstream. They are the first (and possibly still only) station playing Thrice, who are awesome.

I would have liked to go, but not for the price. I bought tickets and sold them (for a small profit).

Haha, we are the complete opposite. Finch, The Used, Sum 41, etc. are the bands that suck.
Interpol, Deftones and Foo Fighters are the ones that are good.

IMO.

The mikes on the side stages were fine but for the first few acts on the main stage they were having a few problems. They got it fixed pretty quickly though. It was better than last year when in the middle of Bad Religion's set all of the sound equipement went out for a couple minutes.

I don't want to get into which bands are good and which bands suck... But I've seen Sum 41 about 5 times.. and they've always put on a good show. I've never seen The Used or Finch, so I can't comment on their live performances, but I like both their albums.

I have nothing against the 3 bands you listed. I'm pretty neutral. I wouldn't buy their albums, but I don't have any strong negative feelings about them.
