There is a thread in the HOT DEALS section http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=297027 where a CyberHome player can be had at Radio Shack for net $48. A friend of mine bought one Friday night. Plays my DVD-Rs and his VCDs. Here is their link:

Cool; glad you got one. I would have bought one myself if I hadn't already bought a Toshiba last month for $72 that reads most formats.

My friend knows of an LCD display for $99 he can hook up to the small CyberHome player along with a power adapter for the car to take on vacations.

HOLY ***** this thing is awesome. I bought one today that I could take to work and store it in a locker. But this player might be better than my panasonic (main R1 only) and my Apex (Rfree alternate and what I have been lugging to work).

I haven't had a lot of time to mess with it yet, I got the region hack to work very easily. I put in one of my R2 PAL Futurama Season 3 discs and it played perfectly. The picture was pretty good, and it didn't skip or pause during the episode. Then I stuck in my R3 Battle Royale disc and for shits and giggles I put on the DTS track and the little bugger was playing it, ( I have no DTS decoder mind you). Then I tested the DTS converter with LOTR, and Gladiator and they both played and sound wonderful! And I was happy with the picture too. Now if this player can play discs with out skipping half as well as my Panisonic, I think I'm going to make it my main player. I love it so far I'm going to watch some movies on it tonight and tommorrow and I'll let you know how it plays.

Also does anybody know if it will do a proper anamorphic pal conversion, all of my PAL discs are Full Frame.

Do a search for Cyberhome, you'll find a lot of info.

I have one, it's great. It DOES do proper anamorphic PAL conversions, which is its main selling point to most people. Malata owners will claim that the Cyberhome is junk, but that's just because they paid $400 for the same features.

Check out the Cyberhome forum at nerd-out.com for all the info you'll ever need.
