Sony STR-DE835 Receiver Help

I just recently moved and have set up my sound system again. Unfortunately the DVD player was "lost" in the move, and for now I have to use my PS2 as a DVD player.

Anyways, I was watching Bond last night and near the end of the movie, when an explosion hit the Sony Receiver stated "Protector" on the Display and all sound cut off. Now I can't get the Receiver to stop doing this anytime there is a large pulse of sound. I have unplugged it and let it rest.

Anyone know what this is and how I can resolve the problem.

Thanks

Check all your connections especially the ones for your speakers. Something is shorting and causing the protection circuit to trigger.

Too late to help you, because you alredy bought the Sony. Shoulda checked around first--you would've found out sooner that lower-end SOny receivers are junk.
