Los Angeles Stores

I am going to Los Angeles for a vacation shortly. Its my first time to Los Angeles. Being from the U.K I hope to pick up some DVD's while I'm there. Could you please tell us where the best places to go to pick up new releases for the best prices and as well, any good well priced centrally located stores. if you could specify addresses that would be great.

thanks

etil, everything is SPREAD OUT in LA, this is like no other city in the world! Look out for such national chain-stores such as BESTBUY, TARGET, CIRCUIT CITY, WALMART, KMART. (No Dixons here, LOL) If you will be driving, sometimes you can see these stores from the major freeways, usually they have huge signs located just off the freeways.
good luck and welcome to LA

btw, keep in mind that the absolute majority of retail stores will only sell REGION 1 DVDs and STAY AWAY FROM THE BIG MALLS, stores there tend to be overpriced.

And they usually make you park in these elaborate underground parking garages, which, to me, look like giant post-earthquake coffins...

But I've only been here for 2 years. Maybe the earthquake paranoia eventually subsides...

There's a recent thread on this topic that might be helpful:

Amoeba, Laser Blazer, etc.

On the second page of the thread, I posted my views of some Southern Californian DVD stores. Hope this is helpful. If you need exact addresses for the stores, I recommend switchboard.com .
