I for one am not surprised that people are watching Daddy Day Care, its a kids movie. I also like how everyone bashes this movie even though they know its meant for kids. How about bashing the kids that watch it too? Damn toddlers

However, I am surprised that its doing better than X2.

I agree.

It's funny how people bash films they haven't even seen yet, isn't it?

I don't see it just being a film for kids, it's a "family" film.

I thought Reloaded's release would actually "help" X2 to some extent, because I figured a lot of people who'd go intending to see the Matrix sequel would have X-Men as the Backup Plan in case TMR was sold out. This is exactly what I did on Thursday: Oh, Matrix at 8:30 is sold out? OK then, gimme 1 ticket for X2 at 8:30!

Additionally, I'm sure plenty of under-17s would try to sneak into the Matrix by buying a ticket for X2 then "accidentally" stumbling into the wrong theater.

The fanbase for X2 and TMR are basically made up of the same people, so I can see how TMR hurt the box office for X2.

Yeah I imagine TMR hurt X2's box office somewhat, but 17 mil ain't bad for a third weekend. With next weekend being a holiday weekend look for both of these films to have smaller dropoffs for next weekend and to really boost their cume...I'd imagine both movies will cross 200 mil by the end of next monday.

Wow, It looks as X-Men may pull a Daredevil and try to squeak past the $200 mil mark.

Yep, and X-Men will make $201 million. It's all relative.

Oh brother

Goat, kids will watch anything. Everyone knows it's a movie for them. Doesn't make it stink any less. And the "everyone" that's bashing the movie (that I'm talking about anyway) are the critics. Who are saying it's three for three (for Murphy).

Nah, I'm 16 and I had a rather perfect plan in getting in to the Matrix: Reloaded and at the same time paying for it. Get someone to buy the ticket for you. As long as you look around 16/17, they won't ask you for your ID. . .atleast at the theatre I went to. I went Thursday and Saturday, worked fine both days.

X-Men will pass 200 easy.

As for Daddy Day Care... sigh. It's a family film, and probably a decent one with the money its pulling in. I'll leave it at that.

I am honestly shocked at how little tmr made. I was really expecting it to pull in at least $250Mil over the weekend.

Yup. Considering how many people there residing and going to the movies in America, I expected at least 80% of the American population to see it .

I agree that its not a movie for everyone. Its meant for kids and maybe it does stink (to us, kids obviously like it). But people are bashing the money that its making as if the people watching it are idiots. If you look at the other thread from last week you'll see people bashing the people that watch it. Its kids that are watching it and its parents who are taking their kids to see it. And I don't see anything wrong with that.

So take it up with the people in the other thread. I didn't say anything about the kids. Nor am I bashing them.

I can't stand movie goers at the theater I go to. I go to see the Matrix on Wed. night knowing it would be sold out all weekend, but the theater was only half full. Then, I go to see X² Friday night, but it was all but sold out. Go figure.

Not to mention the crowds of teens that hang outside the theater complex 'cause they think it's cool.

Anyway...
