Deep Discount price matching policy - what the hell?

So I was trying to get DDD to pricematch a disc. Putting aside the fact that it took them 3 weeks to get back to me, they arent price matching Digital Eyes.

(As a side note: If it's been so long that the customer can't remember what disc they were inquiring about without digging through their old e-mails, then you REALLY need to to step up your customer service turnaround time.)

They claim that DE sells used discs, and they wont price match that. Well, duh - if I was asking about a used disc. But the Batman TAS disc isnt used. Hell, at the time I sent the mail asking about it, the second animated batman disc wasnt even OUT yet. How the hell could they be selling it used?

Sorry, that smells of a cheap dodge to avoid sending out a disc. "We dont really want sell the disc THAT cheap, so we'll just make up some kind of bogus excuse."

Fine. Whatever, screw you Deep Discount. Your loss. I'll happily give my money to DE . . . . as soon as I can remember what I was thinking of picking up, that is.

Anybody know exactly how long DDD gives a customer to "price match" a given purchase?

I mean, will they price match an item that was placed, say, 10 days previously, and that has already been charged to your credit card?

NO info on the time-frame of price matching is shown on DDD's website at all.

DDD and Digital Eyes are owned by the same company. They are well aware that Digital Eyes sells new and used, both of which are very clear on the site.

But he wasn't asking about a used disc, which was the point. He was asking about a new disc.

I would guess 1 week. I think 10 days might still get it.

Maybe I just had an a-hole service rep, but I bought Friends (had it preordered from DDD for awhile), and the day after it shipped I tried to pricematch, and the guy said I would have to place a seperate order and return the other one. Was a little bit of a pain for me, really pissed me off, but I sent back the first order on thier money (just wrote REFUSED on it), and they had to spend the time to refund a transaction, etc. After that experience though, I won't pre-order anything at DDD, unless I'm sure that is definately going to be the best price (unbelievable price/misprice).

I never pricematch after. I always e-mail them before. I didn't even know they pricematched after the fact.

1. They will never honor their misprice.
2. They price match only the prices they like.

They have always honored misprices for me. Two that leap to mind are All in the Family season 1 and the Jack Ryan Box Set.

I used to PM every week up until Feb or so. They started taking 3 - 4 weeks to respond or not at all.

Not worth it to me. I'll get my new releases locally. DDD usually only beat the local price by a dime anyway, although the no tax thing has to be figured in to that as well.

Catalog titles are a different story. I always check DDD first for those.
