Recommendations: Best Versions Available???
After checking with dvdcompare, I am interested in the following non-R1 DVDs because the R1 counterparts simply are not up to par with the quality of non-R1 ones (from the specs at least).
R2 UK editions:
Enemy at the Gates(dts) - a reference dts track!!! Is this the same as the R2 French one? UK edition is on sale at Amazon.co.uk, so it is cheaper ($16.50 shipped.)
R2 UK or R4
Signs(dts)
Red Dragon(dts)
R2 France
Dark City(dts)
Joan of Arc(dts)
Sleepy Hollow(dts)
Vidocq(dts)
Windtalker(dts) - dts track only found on R2 French and R2 Japanese. dts on R2 Jap is reference. I am getting the French one because the Japaneseversion is too expensive.
R3 Eyes Wide Shut: one of the uncut versions available. Since this DVD is cheap in R3, I will get it when I am on vacation.
Since most of these DVDs are available in North America and are cheap at CH, I am getting most of them from outside of R1 mostly because of the dts track. Any input on them? Thanks!!!

I am looking for people who have bought these DVDs or who know the quality of the aforementioned DVDs as opposed to R1 ones.

Check out the R4 version of Enemy at the Gates too, which also has dts. You can get it from somewhere like www.ezydvd.com.au and www.atlanticdvd.com.au (both very reliable Australian suppliers).
The dts track on the R2 release of Signs is not full rate and is not much better than the DD5.1 track. I have the R1 release, you may as well stick with that one TBH
