Which Version of the Returner is best?

Well, you guys helped me with Battle Royale, now I humbly ask for ya'll help with "The Returner". There's a "Deluxe" version that runs for $60, a SE for like $45, and then a regular one for like $16. Opinions? Advice?

Thanx.

I own the $45 SE and have heard that the Japanese versions are better than the hong Kong version but I dont know if it would be worth the extra $30.

Got the HK edition myself for $10 from DDDHouse and it’s pretty nice. DTS sound, good picture - maybe a little lacking in contrast but being as none of the extras are subbed on the other releases this version at the price is the best buy. Film is OK, drags a bit but has a few great scenes, the transforming planes being quite spectacular.

What kind of currency is DDDhouse running on. When I go there to buy The Returner it gives me a price of $78.0

That's Hong Kong Dollars... worth about 8 to 1 USD. Go to www.xe.com and do the conversion yourself.

The prices are in HKD. You can approximate by dividing by 7.72.

Your credit card company will do the conversion for you, so don't worry -and- it's worth it.

I have yet ti try DDD but I can wholeheartedly recommend staying away from Poker INdustries. Its been 2 weeks now and I have yet to receive it and I ordered it when it was in stock and I live over the bridge from their store, strictly amateur hour.

I'm fairly disappointed with the Universe DVD that I got from DDD. It's glitchy and the picture has contrast problems. I'd like to get the Japanese version but not for the $40+ that every online shop is charging.

The Universe DVD of Returner played fine on my Cyberhome 500 DVD player. This movie is more a comic book than Shakespeare, but an extremely well done comic book that copies sequences from many science fiction movies. If you could travel to a store that sells Chinese DVDs, the Universe DVD should now cost about $11.00 (US, not HK). Japanese DVDs are the best made but most expensive in the world. The Universe Returner is a better buy.

A little pretentious to assume a Hong Kong site would list prices in US isn't it?

Can anyone give any opinions about DDDhouse's service? Good or Bad? I'd appreciate it.

I’ve had no problem with them although looking at their awful site it’s understandable that most people would assume they’re a bit suspect. Designing a better front end would increase their business immeasurably I’m sure.

I've ordered hundreds of DVDs from them and haven't had a problem. DDDHouse and DVDShelf are both tops.

I have the really expensive Japanese version and I love it. It's got tons of extras, a great anamorphic transfer and a DTS track. My system sucks, though, so I can't say much abotu the picture, and I can't listen to the DTS track. The stereo track is amazing, though, so if that's an indication, the DTS track must be mind-blowing. I spent a fortune and I say it's worth every penny.

Depends on your player - I watched it on a Toshiba (can't remember the model, a couple years old though) and it worked fine. PC worked fine. Xbox worked fine.

Get the cheaper one. It's worth it.

And I just wanted to add that my experience with pokerindustries.com have been great. I ordered Ichi the Killer from em and they got it to me with 5 days of my order. Great job. Hope they keep it up.

i watched mine with an RCA. and tried it with a PC and it does the same thing. it felt like switching discs on a VCD watching it like that.

I also have a returner DE (japan-made), but I don't want to recommend it. the picture and sound quality is much below than my expectation. Sound design is made so poorly that I couldn't enjoy it from my rear speakers.

If you can understand Japanese, we may want to buy DE. If not, don't waste your time to the extra disk. it does not have that much cool stuffs. (by the way, he extra disk has an easter egg, and it seemed that they are planning to make Returner-2)

I highly recommend you to buy a hongkong-made DVD if though I didn't have a chance to compare them

The Returner is soon getting a north american THEATER RELEASE.

Also, at www.cd-wow.com.hk, The Hong Kong version's listed at HK$ 76.95 - a little less than ten bucks, and FREE SHIPPING.

The JAPANESE deluex 2 dvd specail edition, is the best version by far, for everything,
picture ( I think the pictures great, better than the other versions),
sound,
extras ( which are in abundance, but pity not subbed, but a lot you can undersatand, a lot you cannot)
and georgous packaging. Worth every penny I paid.

but yes its costs a lot, but i suppose if you like the film a lot, its by far the best way to go, if you dont like it as much get the cheapest.

If you live "over the bridge from their store" why on earth would you order on line? That makes absolutely no sense. Just go there. I live right by there also, & I buy almost all of my foregin DVDs from them at half the price they are listed at the website, just b/c I got to know Chris from going there. And everything that is at the website is at the store, sometimes even more. They will often have items listed as "out of stock" at the store.

The real question should be "does this movie warrant a dvd purchase"?
