Monty Python - Holy Grail subtitles...

Welp, it is a rainy day so I pulled this off the shelf for the first time in a while, then I remembered why I hadn't...my copy has the subtitle glitch. I completely forgot about it, and missed out on the exchange (assuming there even was one??). Anyway, am I SOL or can I send this somewhere? Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and before any of the resident superdorks writes a snide reply, yes, I did search for the older thread, but the link went nowhere.

I got this from the other thread:
CTHE
ATTN: Customer Service
10202 W. Washington Bl.
Culver City, CA 90232

Please be sure to include your return address; no p.o. boxes please.
Please be advised: this replacement program is for Region 1 (the U.S. and Canada) only.

Thank you.

You send your entire DVD, case included.

I, however, am still hesitant on sending it, as the other thread people weren't sure if the offer was still on the table.

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be appreciated.

The subtitles turn themselves on and off during the film, whether you want them or not. If you turn them off, they go away, but will come back later. In other words, uber-annoying.

The subtitles are stuck on... You can turn them off, but they'll start up again at the next chapter mark.

I still haven't replaced mine either.

Doesn't it depend on the player?

Yes, the disc works fine on some players (including mine ).

Are the ones sold in stores corrected copies now? (excluding old stock)

I wanted to purchase this title, is there a way to tell if it is the corrected version?

I'd like to know this as well. I was thinking of picking this up with my next CH order.

I got this a while ago from Columbia House and it is the fixed version.

I have two wishes for what they might have done to really fix this, though:

1. Find some other way to fix the subtitle glitch other than locking out being able to turn subtitles on/off on the fly. This is a movie where I would really like to be able to pop the subs on at any time.

2. Put back in the first fake-Swedish subtitle during the title credit.

I had the glitch on my old DVD player and basically stuck the movie on the shelf forever, but now I have a new DVD player so I'll have to take this out and try it. If it still doesn't work I'll take my chances and send it for a replacement.

Luckily, all of my players do not display this glitch (even though I have the first pressing).

The annoying thing is that the fixed versions do not allow you to switch the subtitle streams "on the fly". So you have to go back to the main menu to switch the subtitles, which kinda makes it annoying when you want to play with the joke streams.

How do you know you have the corrected version? Does it have a different UPC?

I had bought my copy about a year or so after it had come out... and that was about a year and a half ago... and I don't have the glitch. If you buy now, I think you'll be safe.

I already bought it the day it came out, but never had the subtitles pop up. Better to be safe than sorry though, so I thought I'd see if they're still replacing it.
