ALL THE VINCENT PRICE MOVES
THE ANGRY RED PLANET way impressed with this one...very surprised.
DIE MONSTER DIE great AIP film.

I hate to call any of them "bad", because even the ones that are mind-bogglingly awful can have tremendous camp appeal. But here are my personal favorites:

Attack of the Puppet People
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes
ALL the double features
ALL the Vincent Price films, except War Gods of the Deep

The ones I was most disappointed with are:

The Beast Within
The Dunwich Horror
The Island of Dr. Moreau
Morons from Outer Space
...and of course, War Gods of the Deep

Is War Gods that bad? I'm a huge Price fan, though I"ve never seen this one. Is it like the Time forgot/earth's core films?

It's been a while since I've seen it, but as far as I remember, it was pretty bad. It is kinda like the other two films you mentioned, both of which I also didn't really care for. It could be that I was so disappointed with War Gods of the Deep because all of the other Vincent Price Midnite Movies were so much better, IMO.

I love Village of the Giants. Contains some very groovy music, bad acting and cheesy special effects. Pure camp.

Is that the flick with Tommy Kirk and a young Beau Bridges? If so, then yes, it was MSTed.

This also features a totally annoying "Ronny" Howard, who survived this experience and went on to happier days, eventually developing a beautiful mind....

Reptilicus is great! I've even got the "R" rated paperback and comic books from the 60s!

You HAVE to get The Thing With Two Heads........as the trailer says "They attached a white bigot's head to the soul-brother's body...who'd have thought that neither would care for the idea much!"

It's so insanely wrong it's a must buy.

I consider myself a Vincent Price fan, but SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN is one of the worst films I've ever seen. My favorite of the midnight series would be:

The Dunwich Horror
The Island of Dr. Moreau
Killer Clowns
and most of the Vincent Price films(excluding SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN and WAR GODS)

Yes, I have it and I enjoyed Masque of Red Death. Premature Burial was a little weak though. I'm a huge Vincent Price Fan though, so I'm a little biased.

Masque is a must have, Price is a villian (true villian) and Premature Burial is good, though not as good without Price.

There were "R" rated paperback novelizations of KONGA, GORGO, and REPTILICUS in the 60s. These had strange sex scenes written in. There was an even a BEWITCHED novel that had passages where Samantha peeked at Darrin in the shower before they were married!

If you read all the above posts, it might clue you in.

The REPTILICUS DVD was discussed.

Sorry to interupt the important flow of the thread. I am sure the world will continue to spin.

In any case, I commend MGM on this series. I just picked up CRY OF THE BANSHEE/MURDERS OF THE RUE MORGUE. Recommended!

Scot1458 -

Thanks for starting this thread...when I was in Jr. High, EVERYONE was into the Dr. Phibes series, and I had no idea they were out on DVD yet.

Any idea if they might be planning to do a "double feature" packaging of both "Phibes" movies like they did with some of the others in their Midnight Movies line? (I didn't see any indication of this on their site...)

I have to agree with what others have said - REPTILICUS and VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS are bad movies, but bad in a good way - campy and fun to watch.

Also, I thought DERANGED was excellent - interesting, creepy and fairly well made, with a good performance by Robert Blossom. The fact that it's paired with MOTEL HELL makes this one of my favorites of the Midnite Movies. Only problem with the dvd is that I've heard that DERANGED is cut - I picked up the unrated vhs for $2 a couple of weeks ago but haven't had a chance to watch it yet to see what's missing.
