Obscure 80's TV Show Question!

OK in the 80's (circa 84?) there was this TV show and the premise was this family went into a pyramid in egypt and accidentally entered some wierd dimension and went to some wierd alternate universe kind of place.

It was a short run series but i cant remember much more about it. They pretty much wandered around and found cities with robots and nazi type government rulers that were after them. It was bizarre.

Can anyone remember what show this was or where to find more info on it?

Thanks!

For the love of God tell me that was an animated series and not live action. But if its live action, I want to watch it and see how horrible it is.

Did you drink paint thinner as a kid?
I was thinking maybe eating paint chips.

Sci-Fi played this a little while back. Having memories of watching it as a kid, I checked it out again.

Talk about drug trip. The series was really bizarre and didn't seem to have much structure from week to week. It just jumped from one strange town to another.

Wow...I actually remember this. Any sites have pictures or stills from scene of the show? The above links did not have any that I could find.

I'm a TV junkie, was even more so in the 80's, and this show doesn't even look familiar.

Maybe that's a good thing....

I remember the two sons but I don't think it was from this show.

Wait a minute wasn't that one older son in Head of the Class? I think his name was Alec or alex (thanks IMDB) it was Alan! The younger son was in The Last Starfighter and brother of Alex! I remember my favorite line from that movie was "What the S#!+ Alex!"

Costarring the fabulous Jonna Lee as the duaghter, who starred in some awful teen flick with Judd Nelson.

Someone actually posted an episode of this on one of the multimedia newsgroups last week. I have them all on video, buried in the back of the closet.
