How does SACD sound on a regular 2 channel cd player? (keep tech talk simple)

I already have "dark side of the moon" on regular cd, and was wondering how the sacd version would sound on a regular cd player. Also I have a dvd player with 5.1 sound but no sacd player, would I have to hear them in 2.0?

You'd be playing the CD layer of the SACD disc, so it'd sound like a CD.

No idea what you're talking about. If you're asking, "what will happen when I put an SACD in a DVD (video) player?", the answer is the same I gave to the other question -- you'd be listening to the CD layer of the SACD disc.

With the cd layer, would it sound exactly like the 92 remaster or would it sound slightly better.

If it is the 92 remaster -- and I certainly don't know, but I bet the info is out there somewhere -- it'll sound... wait for it... exactly the same.

I was wondering the same thing. I've never picked this up on disc and have been tempted to every time i go to Target (the non-SACD version is on sale for $9.99). I don't plan on getting a SACD player for a very, very long time, so I don't know if it would be worth it to buy the new edition.

The CD-layer of Dark Side of the Moon is a new remix and does sound better than it has before. Of course, it doesn't sound as good as the true SACD mix.

The vinyl version of DSOTM sounds much better than the true SACD.

Not to start a vinyl vs cd battle again but how does the vinyl version sound better?
