Just got back from Spring Break so I can post again...
I had the following with me:
1. The Smiths - "The Queen is Dead"
2. Echo and the Bunnymen - "Heaven Up Here"
3. Tortoise - "TNT"
4. Godspeed You Black Emperor! - "Lift Your Skinny Fists..."
5. Do Make Say Think - "& Yet & Yet"
6. Miles Davis - "Kind of Blue"
7. Les Savy Fav - "3/5"
8. Interpol - "Turn on the Bright Lights"
9. Explosions in the Sky - "Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever"
10. mix I made with bands like New Order, Gang of Four, ...Trail of Dead, and Sleater Kinney on it.
For any that are interested...Godspeed You! Black Emperor was just a little bit incredible; I saw them on the Tuesday before the break. Black Dice bored me - noise-rock band that didn't even bother with the courtesy of a melody in their 45 minute set. If they did have any sort of pattern, it was buried under way too much eeewwwooohhOOOOOOOhaaawAAAAAAA - but GY!BE played a 2 hour set, fully equiped with new material (!!), and then played their entire debut EP as an encore. They also played a film behind them with all kind of images: NY streets/protests, industries, homeless people, etc. I was about 3 feet away from one of the guitarists so I got a very good view of everything that happened on stage...some of my friends in the back said it was difficult to see because the stage was so dark (due to the film and such).
Now I have Sigur Ros on Wednesday and Cat Power on Saturday.
