"Where There's Smoke" Saturday, March 15, 9PM ET/PT
Spoiler:
Mannion takes on the Commissioner of the Department of Roads and Highways when costly pothole litigation begins to effect Mannion's police budget. Meanwhile, Temple and Debreno must find the missing documents of a congressional witness who is currently in a corporate fraud trial and claims that they were stolen from his hotel room.

Tony-winning actress Lynne Thigpen, who played Ella Farmer on CBS's The District, died suddenly Wednesday night at her home in Los Angeles. She was 54. The cause of death was not imediately known. "I'm in shock," says District star Craig T. Nelson. "She was a wonderful actress and a friend." Thigpen won a Tony Award for her role in the Broadway production of An American Daughter. She'll also be seen in the upcoming Jack Nicholson-Adam Sandler film Anger Management.

I just wonder how they will write her out, most likely something to do with Ella's cancer. I haven't missed an episode of this show since it debuted. Hard to believe Lynne was the same person who played the bitch in Lean On Me.
She will be missed on here.

I don't watch The District but I remember Lynne from her work on LA Law.

She's been in so many things, I'm really shocked to hear of her death.

For some reason, I wasn't shocked. Strange, isn't it? I watched most of the first season of the District, and in the show, she had breast cancer, and at one point she had a relapse I think. I guess that for some reason it was planted in my mind that she was sick in real life as well. Too bad, because I liked her work.

I am really curious to what the cause is though.

I'll second that. I'm of the age that her work as "The Chief" on PBS' Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego was pretty much her only work I got a chance to see (although I have seen an episode or 2 of The District. I enjoyed her work on Carmen when I was younger. I was shocked when I heard the news of her passing a couple days ago. Sad.

Actually, I know her best as the deejay on "The Warriors."

Rest in peace...
