New anamorphic Titanic DVD in Japan?
Les années laser said that Titanic was going to be released in Japan on an anamorphic transfer (and possibly DTS).
And sure enough, there is a new release on cdjapan.co.jp
The Details page list aspect ratio as "16:9/LB Cinemascope", which usually means "2.35:1 anamorphic".
It's a barebones edition, but I thought it could be interesting anyway.

Are there extras (well, apart from the trailer) on the R1 edition? I don't recall there being any.

one would hope that with the final inclusion of DTS tracks on the upcoming R1 Special Editions of the Clancy movies, that Paramount will likewise give Titanic a makeover if not a full blown Special edition.

That's why there was a question mark in my thread title, and that's why I gave my sources so that anyone interested could work on that.
At the time, cdjapan did say it would be 16:9. Obviously they've corrected that.

I saw this listing at CDJapan and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was anamorphic or not...

...LB = "Letterbox" (which, in a perfect world, should mean that a disc features a non-anamorphic "widescreen" format)...
...Cinemascope - although actually a specific Brand Name, this term is often used to indicate an AR (Aspect Ratio) of 2.35:1...
