A.u.s.a. - 03/04/03
Since there wasn't anything but repeats on last night, I watched this on NBC after Frasier was over. I had been meaning to catch it for a few weeks, but it is on during one of my busiest TV nights.
A.U.S.A. (Assistant U.S. Attorney) has Scott Foley (from Felicity and J. Garner's husband) and Amanda Detmer (she was in Saving Silverman, I think) in it. It was pretty funny at times. It was nice to see a courtroom show that wasn't serious. (But I don't think anything will ever beat Night Court in its heyday.)
Has anyone else caught this? I haven't seen any threads regarding this show, so I kind of figured it wasn't that good, but I thought it was alright. It's just on a bad night. I recommend it for those sick of re-runs - which it seems we will have a lot of for the next few weeks. I thought it showed promise and was just wondering if anyone else had an opinion on it. Scott Foley was pretty good in a starring comedic role.

I watched about 5 mins of the pilot episode and had to turn it off because of the laff track. Seriously, it was so disstracting:
Scott Foley: "Hello, I'm new here."
[Loud booming laughter, as if the funniest joke in the world was just told]
"Can you tell me where the bathroom is?"
[Even louder laughter combined with sounds of knee slapping and shouts of "L.O.L!" from the 'audience' members]
Hopefully the show has gotten better about this, but I haven't bothered to go back and check. Too bad, because I like Scott Foley and I was hoping to like the show.

I really don't like the show. I have watched them all until last night, but I have decided to give up on it. I doubt that it is going to make it past the first season.

The show started off just godawful. Tscott is absolutely right about the laugh track which also stayed that way for the second show. That was the most inappropriately loud and laughy laugh track I've heard at least since shows from the 50s and I don't even think they were that bad. Not to mention that the show was not at all funny.
The last couple of episodes they've toned down the laugh track and the writing has risen to mediocre. I may watch it a couple more times to see if they can keep improving because I like Scott Foley and Amanda Detmer is sure easy on the eyes.
BTW, I hated, hated, hated Night Court.

I can't believe you hated Night Court! Blasphemy! That was great, cheesy, '80s TV comedy!
maybe it wasn't that great, but still...
