How is the quality of La Dolce Vita R2 (Italy)?

This was released in January by Medusa in Italy. Can anyone comment on the audio/video and subs? Also, is it a better DVD than the R2 release in the UK?

Absoulty stunnig picture quality. Correct aspect ratio(2.35 : 1, the uk one is about 2.0: 1). Most of the extra features do not have eng subs btw.
The package is beautiful. Something like In The Mood For Love french edition.

Wow, that looks fantastic!

Any recommendations for good retailers to buy from?

Anybody know who has the R1 rights to this?

I'd hate to buy it and then see Criterion do it.

I've got to say, it disturbs me a little that their listing includes the following spec:

Color/B&W: Color

We're sure this is the same disc, right?

It's the same (Medusa 2 disc). The colorize scare must be a mistake, the review link above has b&w screen captures of the film and color screen captures of some of the extras.

BTW: Does anybody know if this Medusa is the same company that also owns Hong Kong Legends in the UK?

BTW2: I just discovered another version of LDV that's going to be released in R4 Australia on March 12. Details are lacking at the major Aussie sites though.

2 and 3 things about Medusa

Fininvest is a private holding company wholly owned by Silvio Berlusconi and his family. Silvio Berlusconi is Italy's richest man, its prime minister and foreign minister. Fininvest has controlling stakes in Mediaset, which operates Italy's three main private commercial television channels, Mondadori, the country's leading publisher, and a 35 per cent stake in Mediolanum, a financial services company. Fininvest also owns the AC Milan football club, Medusa Films, the country's leading film production company, and a string of other media assets.

There's R4/PAL coming as well soon, take a look from Ezydvd.com.au for more details. I dont however think it's 2-disc edition but surely has English subtitles.
