I can understand dressing up for Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or other "geek" type movies (even though I don't condone it). But today after I went to see Old School I saw someone walking out of Gods and Generals dressed up in a full Confederate uniform holding a small confederate flag. Now this guy was old (in his late fourties, early fifties), but I highly doubt that he fought in the Civil War. His wife seemed somewhat embarassed to be around him. I'm just wondering if he had a family member who fought in the war and this is his way of honoring them, or if he's just someone who truly believes that the "South will rise again" (I live in Georgia, if anyone is curious).

I can understand someone dressed up for Gods and generals.. and the following movies:
Rocky horror picture show
Star wars
Lord of the Rings
anime films
and a few others.
Why Gods and Generals. You have to understand were you are located at Shilex... Ga.. I mean, don't Civil War Reinactments happen every weekend? They have a lot of following to them. I hear for the film they hired like 1000 extra's that take part of the reinactments.
I've been in Ga. and I have seen those bumper stickers. A strange sight indeed. though, not as strange as the "KKK BBQ" flyer I saw on the way down to florida.
Always funny to see the futurama episode "Deep South"
Rocky horror picture show
Star wars
Lord of the Rings
anime films

I'd much rather see people dress up to a war movie and honoring those who fought or ancestors that fought then a bunch of nerds pretending their Jedi or Hobbits.

The way I see it, there are three levels of geekness: There are geeks - people who love those types of movies and enjoy talking about them with friends. This is perfectly fine. Then there are super geeks - people like us who love the movies AND post about them to strangers on message boards. Also perfectly acceptable. But then there is the level of geek-dom that is off limits to me: the uber geeks - those people who dress up when they go to the theater, enjoy acting out their favorite scenes, and collect the card games - UNACCEPTABLE! I will not cross this line! (Until RoTK comes out)

Usually a sweater or a nice shirt w/ a collar. I mean, I'm going to be in public so I'm not going to be wearing what I normally wear to mow the lawn in.

When I watched Ghostbusters back in 1984, I wore a cap with marshmallows glued to it...of course I was 8 years old at the time. Other than that, no I can't say that I have - nor do I have the desire too.

No, but I must have seen 50 people dressed as civil war soldiers at the sneak premeire ons "Gods and Generals". I also remember seeing people dressed as "Batman" during its initial screening.
