Today's CDs (2/12)

White Stripes -- White Stripes
White Stripes -- De Stijl
White Stripes -- White Blood Cells
White Stripes -- Elephant

(I'm working on a WS Trouser Press entry today, hence the overload)

Xiu Xiu -- Knife Play
Xiu Xiu -- A Promise
Xiu Xiu -- Chapel of the Chimes

(And I'm working on a Xiu Xiu piece for another pub...)

Anyway, the annual Village Voice Pazz & Jop Poll was released yesterday, check it here:

http://www.villagevoice.com/specials/pazznjop/02/

The album's list is boring (as it always is), but the singles are worth looking through.

The Vines - Highly Evolved
Bach, Vivaldi Violin Concertos
Lyle Lovett - You Can't Resist It EP
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray
Borodin String Quartets #s 1 & 2

Borrowed the Vines album from the library. Eh. If I wanted to listen to Nirvana or Pink Floyd, I'd listen to the original.

You write for Trouser Press? Is their third book on rock out yet? If not, do you know when it's coming out?

long list today, for me, since i was unfortunately mailed a 10% off coupon for borders (*d'oh*)

The Walkmen Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone
Kraftwerk The Mix
Pulp Different Class
The Clash Sandinista
The Clash Super Black Market Clash
Iggy Pop Nude & Rude: The Best of Iggy Pop
Talking Heads Speaking in Tongues
New Order Technique
Roxy Music Siren
De la Soul 3 Feet High and Rising...
Alphaville Salvation

for those of you who are curious, YES, a majority of these purchases are a result of this frickin' forum. this forum is destined to drive me broke... (i don't have a fast enough connection to download mp3)..

FWIW, i'm really digging The Walkmen right now. they definitely feel like a "new NY rock" band. i'm really pleased with this blind buy.. blind to an extent, i guess.. since i had seen the Ion ad on tv.

Yeah, I write for Trouser Press. The third book is actually the guide to the 90s one, which came out in 94. As of now, Ira Robbins (the founder of the original mag) is putting up new entries on the website (trouserpress.com), and once there are enough new entries, a new book will be printed. But this is probably a couple of years away. But yeah, I've been doing TP entries for a few months now. The most recent one I did was Spoon...
