Nintendo Nexus, I don't know about this.

I'm guessing it's fake, but I actually don't think the design is that bad. Reminds me of the new Lexus. Wait a minute, is that what they are spoofing?

I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if the specs are credible, but that looks amazing.
The wireless controller being standard vs an option, the USB connections, the backwards compatibility, the GB/GBA port would all be amazing.
I'm not sure they would build the GBA port in, as that could an added option (like it is for the GC now) that would help them keep the cost of the base unit down, but it would be a great thing.
Still no hard drive, is an interesting choice.
In any case, that thing rocks.
Announcing backward compatibility would be a big plus, since I would continue to buy GC games right up until I got one of these. And if they decide to launch it 2005,the backward compatibility would keep a lot of people from being mad that the GC didn't fulfill the classic Nintendo life cycle.

I think the rendering is given away by the button design in the two drawings. In the silver one they are sticking out, but in the black they are level with the system. Even if you were to say they go in and out when you press them, the buttons should be slanted. Look closely, you should be able to see what I'm talking about if I'm not explaining myself clearly.

Interesting, here's another link to a picture with slightly different coloring:

If anyone can translate (German??):
http://www.gamecube-online.net/?&news_id=1210
From what I can tell they think it's fake as well.
Still some more (definitely fakes, scroll down), also has more colors of Nexus:

fake or not, that's an awesome concept/design and I'd definitely go for it
I could tell it was fake from the button labeling...the words were not in the proper perspective, but even so, I really think it's great.
but who's to say that this isn't a mockup from a real nintendo designer?...it's far too early in the life cycle (hardware still being hammered out) before they can build a prototype...at least, I would assume as such...but that's a damn good photoshop job and even if it is a work of fan fiction, some product development/marketing company should pick them up.

Definitely fake.
About the wireless controllers being built in, I think that's fairly likely to happen, give the popularity of the Wavebird. I haven't heard anyone who's used it and not prefered it to the normal gc controller (some gripes here and there about no rumble are all). It's just awesome not having cords to get tangled up or tripped on.
The built in GBA/GB port is awesome as well. I kind of doubt we'll see that, but who knows. Nintendo is really starting to push the combining of the two systems. The preview of Zelda in the latest EGM made the GBA link up feature look pretty sweet.

oh yeah..... its a nice realistic rendering job, but that design is pretty ugly, looks like a mutated frogger . One thing I do like though is that they put 4 controller ports on it, even if it is a fake.

I'd by a similar wireless (nothing that needs line of sight) for the XBox and PS2 the second it came out.

Nice, but where's the Ethernet port? I suppose they could produce an external modem, but then that might have to take up one of the USB ports unless you have a hub.
I also prefer the memory card slots to be in the controllers themselves, and that there are four of them (so each player's data, if needed, would go in the appropriate controller).
Where's the DTS???

I disagree about built in wireless controllers being the standard... that would suck. While the days without rumble were great (8 and 16 bit), I'd just as well choose not to relive them. Don't get me wrong, the Wavebird is cool. I understand the whole argument about forgetting about the rumble feature after playing without it for a while. But I'm not interested in taking a step back... I don't think wireless gaming appeals to that many gamers anyway (especially not as much as the rumble feature). Wireless controllers with rumble features would be incredible however, but the price and battery draining power that it would require probably doesn't make that feasible as a console pack-in.

If Nintendo had designed their controllers with a cord longer than 6', the need for wireless wouldn't be so big.
Aside from lack of rumble (which they could do), the other downside to wireless is having to replace batteries.
Anyway - that's a pretty good fan-art concept... the specs are pretty funny, but it's not a bad design. Some of the other ones from that page linked above are pretty good too. Makes me wanna bust out 3dsm.
