Advice for PS2 game for father-in-law?

Over Christmas, my father-in-law happened to visit one of his grandkids where he played Madden 2003 on the PS2. He was so hooked, he went out and bought a PS2, and Madden 2003!

We mentioned that we'd get him a game or two for the PS2. I'm pretty sure we'll get Tiger Woods 2003 (he's a golf nut), but does anyone have some recommendations for a game that would be appropriate for a 60-year-old? Assume: not much violence, fairly straightforward gameplay. And that Vice City is the last game we'd ever get for him.

How about a light RPG like ICO or Okage?

I'd also recommend a puzzle game, but I don't know of any good one for PS2.

60 and gaming.

Tiger is a good choice. If he likes other sports think about NBA 2K3 or NHL 2K3. Gran Turismo 3 is a great racing game and almost everyone likes racing cars.

I don't know the man, but as good as Ico is, I don't think he'd dig it. Something along the lines of a Nascar game or Gran Tourismo. Other than that - he'll most likely be most into games like Madden - sports games. Hockey, Golf, Soccer, basketball, soccer. :/ If my dad was still alive, he'd like Nascar and probably a golf game.

edit: OH and bass fishing.

You might want to try a baseball game too. Or possibley even a boxing game like Knockout Kings 2002. He might get a kick out of playing as Ali.

Many thanks for all the advice! I think racing or fishing may fit the bill, but boxing is a possibility. Thanks again.

My father in law is mid-50s and he loves to play my copies of ATV Offroad Fury (an easy, arcadey racer), Gran Tourismo 3 and especially Hot Shot Golf 3. He dismissed HSG3 saying "I don't like golf", but later in the trip spent hours playing it and demolished all my high scores
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 is a wonderful game and a whole lot easier to master than GT3. Besides what middle aged man hasn't wanted to blow past the police is a hot ferrari or porsche?
