Memento - Your thoughts (spoilers)
Did events actually happen as Leonard remembers them (Sammy Jankis, his wife being killed) or did he remember them as he wanted to remember them?
It's never clearly stated whether or not, and it's beautifully done. It's basically left up to the audience to form their own opinions.
I haven't fully decided yet, but I'm leaning toward the notion that Sammy Jankis, as Leonard tells the story, was actually Leonard's actions. The flashbacks of Sammy in the home with the subliminal flash of it being Leonard sitting in the chair is pretty telling. Also, the earlier memory of Leonard pinching his wife being modified later to be him giving his wife the insulin injection.
