Dudes, Columbia House Music club question...

I can't seem to find this elsewhere, but it seems like it should be around. I need some tunes. Which is better, BHG (is that right?) or Columbia House? Also, are there different codes similar to the DVD clubs? Thanks.

BMG = Buy 12 for the price of 1 and then cancel
CH = Get 12 Free, buy 4 or 5 or whatever.

BMG amounts to 12 CDs for around $50. Definitely go this route and just cancel and re-sign up if you want more. I'm working on account #8 since November myself.

Columbia House has the SAME EXACT (11 or 12 for 1) deal as BMG.

All you have to do is sign up with CDHQ.com, a "sister" company of Columbia House that has the same exact catalog as Columbia House. It was a division set up by CH to spefically compete with BMG.

Therefore, choose the club where you find the artists you most often purchase, and NEVER join Columbia House, choose CDHQ instead (they even share the same mailing address).

CDHQ has a MUCH, MUCH limited selection for enrollment CDs compared to BMG.

I order any CDs from the catalog, regardless of the listing in the ads.

I've been a member of BMG for almost 4 years now. I'd rather stay a member than canceling and then re-enlisting. You get cd's for cheap anyways, they end up being about $8 each with shipping.

They all stick you on the shipping - even if you get the cds for "free" the company is still making like a 400% profit.

Cancelling and re-enlisting takes me about 5 minutes every couple of weeks and the avg price is $4.50 - $5 a CD, after shipping is included.

But to each his/her own.

Yep, $2.79 per CD. Since there's no sales tax in Oregon, my initial 7 CDs from BMG costs $19.53 and the fulfillment/4 more free costs me about $31.00.

Question about BMG Music Club

I'd like to sign up for BMG again, and while on their site they say you can pay by check or credit card, they require CC info to sign up. While I want to sign up, I don't want to pay by CC. Does anyone know how you go about signing up online with a "bill me" option?

Please check out DVDClubs and feel free post the question there if you are fairly sure the answer is not already present. [Benedict]

Columbiahouse music club codes

anybody know any good codes to use for Columbiahouse music club? I know that BMG has a buy 12 for the price of 1 promotion, and was wondering if Columbiahouse had anything similar. Thanks.

All of columbia houses deals require you to buy 3-4 cds at their prices. By the time you're said and done with an account there, you've already dropped about $100-120 for 15-19 CDs. That's a pretty lousy average price.

However, with BMG you can get 12 for 1, buy 1, get 4 free, which usually ends up around $50 (w/o tax) for 17 cds -- a much better bargain than CH.

The bummer is that a lot of the time, CH will get new titles before BMG or outright carry titles that BMG won't carry. So check to see what titles you want and if a majority of them are at BMG, go that route.

Question about Music clubs.

Hey guys, I wanted to help my CD collection along by joining one of those 12 free 7 free CD clubs. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with these? Some prices seemed high, but fair. I'm looking at BMGmusic and Columbia house mainly.

PS: I did I search, and didn't find anything on this question .

You can't go wrong with BMG if you can find enough titles you're interested in (their catalog is somewhat limited). I have joined-quit-joined many times at an average cost of less than $4.00 per CD - shipped!

Does anyone here know if the exisiting information in the DVD Clubs forum essentially is transferrable to the CD clubs run by the same people?

I know somebody said they searched and couldn't find anything, but this does come up every month or so in the "Hot Deals" and/or "DVD Clubs" forum; try searching there.

In brief, BMG generally has the better deals, though CH has in the past also offered the 12-for-1 deal as well. Selection is similar, though some people report better selection at CH. CH discs don't have the "Manufactured for BMG" notation, which matters to some people. I think CH may also now require people to make their enrollment selections from a much more limited universe.

Columbia House Music Club Codes?

Are there codes for additional free CDs at the Columbia House music club, like there are for the DVD club?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Nope, no codes. Generally, BMG has the best deal (12-for-1). CH hasn't run that deal for a long time. If you do a search on cd club or music club in this forum, the Bargains forum, the Club forum, or the Other forum, you should be able to find other, more detailed threads on the same topic.

I did try searching that way, but couldn't find anything. I guess BMG is still the best, even if CH did have codes. Thanks for replying.

Columbia House CD Club sale

Best sale Columbia House has ever had in my experience, buy one at regular price, get the second for free, all $1.99 afterwards . . .

I bought 20, working out little over $5.50 each including shipping! I went a bit overboard but don't know if/when they'll ever have a deal like that again.

Guess they're trying to compete with BMG at those prices!

I get those deals all the time. It's best to buy 1 box set at a discounted price because you get pretty good deals on them and they count towards commitments.

Here's my order from last month and then it was an additional 10% off. Single CDs was $1.79 each.
Led Zeppelin ~ Boxed Set 413021 $38.68
The Monkees ~ Music Box 425306 Free (** I don't know why I got this free)
Andy Griggs ~ Freedom 360818
Elvis Presley ~ White Christmas 405241
Kylie Minogue ~ Hits + 356741
Rick Astley ~ Greatest Hits 350405
Various Artists ~ Sharp Dressed Men: A Tribute To Zz Top 357202
Luke ~ Something Nasty 372417
Dwight Yoakam ~ Come on Christmas 230516
The Cars ~ Complete Greatest Hits 353870
Toby Keith ~ Christmas to Christmas 149369
Busta Rhymes ~ Genesis 339994
Ozzy Osbourne ~ Diary Of A Madman [2002] 353334
Ozzy Osbourne ~ No More Tears [2002] 353383
Ozzy Osbourne ~ Tribute [2002] 353367
Ozzy Osbourne ~ Blizzard Of Ozz [2002] 353300
Ozzy Osbourne ~ The Ozzman Cometh [Shot In The Dark version] 229955
Barry Manilow ~ Ultimate Manilow 345280
Various Artists ~ Good Rockin' Tonight: 335224

Subtotal $69.11
Shipping & Processing $55.93
Tax Free
Total $125.04

**- This was free even though box sets usually are not. That was the only set I've got free before. I received everything in less than 3 weeks. If you have lots of Christmas presents to buy, this is the way to go.
jarsim - I hope you cleaned house also.
