Six Feet Under vs. Sopranos?

I'm approaching the end of my Sports Night set (which was a fantastic series) and my copy of The Shield is on the way. I figure when I'm through that I'll need another show to watch before I go to sleep. I'm figuring it will probably be one of the HBO shows, Sopranos, or Six Feet Under.

I imagine I'll get both of them eventually, but the high cost of each prevents me from getting each of them at the same time. I can get them for about the same price, so I was wondering which was preferred of the two.

It might help to know that dark, wry comedy is about my favorite type of movie, are either of these presented in this style?

I honestly think you can't go wrong with either one, but if I were to choose I would take SFU S1 over Sopranos S1.

Even though I think that Sopranos is the better of the two, based on what you said you like, I think you should go with Six Feet Under.

I'll agree here. If someone put a gun to my head, I'd probably select The Sopranos as the better overall show by half a nose, but considering you like Sports Night and darker comedy, Six Feet Under is probably the one you should watch first.

I think they are two very different shows and it's hard to compare the two. They are both very well done. The First season of SFU is very good and worth a blind buy. If only they were not so damn expensive

I find 6'U to be grating. I also feel that all the charcters are shrill and annoying (except for the guy from Sports Night) (BTW, I HATED American Beauty - so anything by Allan Ball will anger me).

I'd easily take Sopranos over it.

But if you ask Oz vs. Sopranos - then it'd be a tough call.

While both are excellent, the first season of the Sopranos is sensational and would be my choice.

you can't go wrong with either... but if you like Sports Night, Peter Krause is great on Six Feet Under and I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot... but please, watch Sopranos... I can't think of a better show to own....
