What happened to day time game shows?
I use to love watching press your luck, scrabble, lets make a deal everyday on tv. Why are they no longer on tv. I know they are on the gameshow network but i do not have that. So why did they stopped making them. They were great shows.

Ratings. Not enough means you can't sell ads, which means the distributior (assuming these are syndicated) cancels them. Many have been revived, though.
There are still syndicated game shows, like "The Price is Right", "To Tell the Truth", "Pyramid", "Family Feud", "The Weakest Link", "Street Smarts", "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?", "Wheel of Fortune", "Jeopardy", and "Hollywood Squares". Wheter they air on daytime or not isn't really the distributor's fault.

Actually, it started with the network's handing over the noon hour to the local affiliates for news, which pre-empted the game shows shown at that time...then they gradually handed back more and more time...
So, I don't think you'll ever see networks filling this AM hours with game shows, but there are plenty of syndicated shows and cable shows filling these hours with game shows now...(Millionaire, Pyramid, Family Feud, etc.)
Actually, I haven't calculated it out, but I'd be willing to bet there are more first-run game shows on the air now then there were in the 70's...anyone care to start a list?

Day time soaps, court shows and talk shows rule day time TV in Kansas City. Family Feud and Pyramid and Millionare and others are aired either in early to mid afternoon (starting at 4pm) or late at night after Letterman.

The court shows and the game shows used to coexist peacefully on daytime TV. I used to love the fake court shows from back in the day like Divorce court and Supieror court....

Hell, I even remember when what was effectively "Wheel of Fortune Lite" aired in the daytime and "Wheel of Fortune Regular" aired at nighttime.
All these stupid court shows took over. Judge Mills Lane. Judge Joe Brown. Judge Judy. Some big sassy black chick in a robe (can't remember her name). And so on. They're all lame now.
