I just logged on to the site only to find out that it is over. The owner has shut the doors forever. He has a message you can all read at www.thefutoncritic.com .
Now what I would like to know is what other sites were like this for tv show info? This was the only site I knew of so now I need a few new ones. Could someone please recommend a few new sites where I can get show updates?

No, it wasn't episode guides, Jack. I'm not sure what there was in the closing message on thefutoncritic that would even suggest that. It was probably the single best resource for anything television-related, archiving press releases, articles from most every major source, ratings analysis, overnight ratings, regular columns...he'd also keep much of that information broken down by series. It was one of just a handful of sites I found the need to visit daily. Though I thought the quality of the columns had been slipping in the past few months, it was a very useful resource.
Check the Wayback Machine for an archived version of the site to get a rough idea.

That's too bad, since I hit the site nearly every day as well. I usually go to zap2it's TV News section, as well as Mediaweek's Programming Insider, for quick ratings news, but thefutoncritic was the one I would go to first.

I usually go to http://www.tvtome.com (tee-vee-to-me or is it tee-vee-tomb?) for my show info.
