Hi Matt. Where did you see this, ...in the store? Looking at the Radio Shack web site, it only says that the 402 model is coming.

Thanks.

It's not the 500. It's the 402 or whatever it's called. My mistake. Very sorry about that.

CH 500. This is interesting!

I tried locating a Best Buy in my area that might carry the Cyberhome 500. When I tried to place one in my basket, I got this message:

The item(s):
Cyber Home Progressive-Scan DVD with CD/CD-R/RW/MP3 Playback and Component Video

are not currently available and has been removed from your basket.

Amazon says they don't have it either.

I think those who got'em may be fortunate.

Not here in MI. They say they haven't had them since X-mas.

Here in NJ, there are still a few BB's that have them. The one in Woodbridge is all out of them, but Union has a few along with other stores.

Both the Best Buys here are out of them and I get the idea from the salespeople that it's pretty likely they won't get any more.

So I looked around the net and found:

newegg.com

The price is $80 plus $10 shipping (plus tax if you're in California). While that's not as good as the Best Buy price with the rebate, I think it's still a good deal if this player is everything people are saying it is. I ordered it Monday morning and it shipped later in the day.

Cyberhome 500 available at Bestbuy.com

I was just checking the BB site and the Cyberhome 500 is available again. It's 69.99 before rebates plus tax. The site says in-stock with limited store-pick up. I just ordered one myself
Hurry up and get yours before it disappears again.

Also note that the website now says with $10 rebate but when I bought mine earlier today I got a $20 rebate. I didn't order online, just went to my local BB and picked up the one 500 they had, sitting atop a tall stack of 402s.

This is my first foray into region-free, PAL->NTSC, etc. Is there a good FAQ somewhere, especially one specific to this player, or am I left to search through Nerd-Out for the answers to my stupid questions?

Yes, at the Best Buy.com, I see the ch500 and the 10% rebate, but I also see:

"Not available for delivery at this time. Not available for store pickup."

Let's see. No delivery. No pickup. That leaves what?

Just received a 500 from bestbuy.com today. I ordered about a week ago, must have sold out quickly. All the blueshirts at my local BB's say they don't plan on getting more in, despite the sale advertised as going until 2/1! Makes no sense to me...stock up people! Haven't tested the unit yet, they didn't even double-box it, just slapped a mailing label on the DVD box. *crosses fingers*

Received my player today (just two days, California to Wisconsin).

I set it up and made it region free very easily. The picture is very good.

They're still in stock at newegg, people!

Ditto.
Just placed my order and had it confirmed.
Last time the CH500 was available at BB, it was also gone in about four hours.
Be sure. Be swift. Be codefree. I'm so jazzed.

Hmm...weird. Although they were out of stock here at Fair Lakes, Cyber Home 500 was priced at $49 after rebate(s).

I guess they haven't bothered to update the price. Anyway, I bought one via online, but the rebate that's there appears to be invalid. If you look at the form, brand and model name is showing as "invalid."

When I contact customer service, the reply I got told me to look for rebates via manufacturer, but there isn't one because the rebate doesn't appeared to be for a specific manufacturer.

Oh well...$69 is still good price.

I think the rebate should still work. It has a SKU number and a specific rebate # on the address. They should know what it's for, and should definitely take responsibility for their own website. I'm sending mine in.
