The next movie to air supposingly uncut on network tv is...

SCREAM?? What I'm wondering is why this movie is now uncut on tv? I would really be pissed off at disney if fox airs scream with the NC-17 footage.
btw, tomorrow at 8:00 only on fox.

If it's really uncut, it would be 111 minutes. That would leave 9 minutes for ads. The 20 seconds of "NC-17" material really wouldn't matter, but there's no way they are going to show it, since VH1 censors Showgirls, and cable channels are usually more liberal, so to say, than broadcast TV.

I'd almost consider watching this just to see how "uncut" it really is

I'm guessing the uncut version will be the theatrical version uncut rather than the version with the NC-17 scenes.

Well, I also forgot to factor in that odds are, more minutes are going to be taken up for disclaimers. Those things add up: I bet every half hour or so, FOX would have to air one of those "This presentation contains adult material and is intended mature audiences only." announcments. I really doubt they would air just 6-7 minutes of commericals, unless a company sponsors the airing or something.

For "Scream"...uh...I don't think so.

will be like the "uncut" movies on TNN?
in other words they're still censored and have scenes missing

I wish someone would define "uncut" to the networks nowadays.

btw what are the NC-17 scenes? I watched the unrated version of American Pie II and could not see a difference between that and the regular version.

I wonder if it will be like USA's "uncut" airing of "Big Daddy" where they removed all the bad words.

Graphic stuff ahead:

From IMDB:

The US LaserDisc version contains 20 seconds of restored footage that was originally cut to avoid being slapped with the NC-17 by the MPAA. It also has commentary by director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson. In the commentary Craven notes five places where his cut differs from the theatrical release:
  • After Billy and Stuart have finished stabbing each other, there is a shot of Stu's hand dripping blood into a puddle, with Sydney's father looking on.
  • Steve's guts pour out of him as Casey looks on.
  • Casey hanging from the tree was time compressed in the film release (it is at normal speed here).
  • When Tatum meets her death by garage door, her head is flattened.
  • After Kenny the cameraman's throat is cut, he looks up at his killer.
  • Billy clearly loses control as he delivers his final cuts to Stuart.

Damn, I wish that was on the DVD... I had the VHS which was so much better film-wise, but I sold it... wish we could have the un-cut film in glorious DVD quality here

btw, its rated according to tv guide (which is not always accurate,) TV-MA. The sequel Scream 2 is TV-MA-LV and that airs next thursday. The only way they could make it uncut is if there are little to no commercials or if they cut a lot of the dialogue but still contain the violence.

Boy, if someone from the far right gets wind of this there'll be a huge stink. I can see airing something like Schindler's List uncut but IMHO doing Scream is something that's not that appropriate for "the family hour" on TV. It certainly can't be accused of having "redeeming" value to air it unedited. I mean, if you wanted to see it uncut it's been out on video or pay cable for YEARS. The only reason FOX is doing this is money. I dunno... I won't say I'm "against" it but I do consider it pretty irresponsible and likely to cause quite a ruckus if someone from "Focus On The Family" or one of those knucklehead groups see it.
