blind buy for me also and i had a similar reaction.
in some ways i was reminded of the (grossly inferior) Charlies Angels movie. in CAs case, it couldn't make up its mind whether it was a spoof or a balls out action picture. When i watched that one, i started out with a big silly grin on my face that slowly faded as the movie progressed.
by the end of it i was grinding my teeth.
UB, on the other hand, put a smile on my face in the first few minutes that never left.
some of the gags falls flat, but the storytelling is done with a lot verve (loved the opening credits) and the picture was a much 'gentler' spoof than i was expecting ( compared to the seemingly non-stop jokes about bodily emissions and sex functions in the austin powers movies for instance).
i could have done without Ckis Kattan, but he's tolerable.
all in all, i'll chalk this one up as a very positve blind buy.
a/v quality is beyond reproach. near perfection.

Saw it in theaters, and loved it. Bought it on DVD and loved it more. Great list of extras, and easy access to the cat fight! Dave Chappelle is TOO FUNNY in this movie !!

what do you all think?
- A great anamorphic widescreen transfer.
- Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround sound.
- Two audio commentaries (the one with the director is worth listening to, now the one with Eddie Griffin....)
- Thirty minutes of deleted scenes.
- Five minutes of outtakes (which are pretty funny, mostly because of Dave).
- An alternate ending (more of an extended ending if you stayed during the credits) which runs three minutes.
- A twenty minute production featurette which is better than most of Universal's fluff-filled Spotlight On Locations.
- Twenty minutes worth of the original Undercover Brother animated shorts which are pretty funny.
- Trailers, music video, and so on.....
So you get the film, three hours of bonus audio material, and ninety minutes of bonus video material all under twenty bucks. Not that bad of a deal especially if you enjoyed the movie.

Too be honest I find after these DVDs are released their price goes up. They come out and for the first month or two are sold in bulk at somewhat of a saleprice then when they become old news they move into the normal spots and sell for the regular price

I cannot believe all the positive comments on this movie!
I bought it blind from the word of mouth here on the board and hated it! I think nearly all the jokes are forced and weak! Like the cover? Denise Richards does not even wear those pants in the movie. She wears these baggy white things that look crummy! The movie is bad bad bad, not funny.
I bought it for $16 and sold it for $6. Glad to get it out of my sight!
Too Sense.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I thought the humor was sharper, and it was more consistently funny, than any of the Austin Powers movies.
I just wish they had used that deleted scene where (like Q's labs in the Bond movies) the scientists were helping the black athletes learn "white" sports---hockey, fencing, rock climbing .
Quite funny and clever, IMO.

I completely agree with Ginsu, this movie did nothing for me. After I watched it I jumped online to see what everybody else thought and to my surprise I was in the minority as it seems like 90% + really enjoyed this movie and found it hillarious. I for one found it to be one of the worst movies I saw from last year.

If you want to see a great movie where all the people wear the outfits that they do in the publicity stills, check out "The Adventures of Pluto Nash". Eddie Murphy wears the spacesuit from the cover almost the whole movie! I only wish the "Pluto Nash" cover showed his pants also. Because of this, I can only give "Pluto Nash" 4 stars (out of 5).
