Simpsons 1/12

Shaping up to be a good episode. It's new right?

Lisa: "Dad, I'm a vegetarian!"
Homer: "Well you're not gonna like your other present then"
*Camera moves to a wrapped chicken

forgive me if it's an old episode

Am I the only one who got about 7 minutes of an old episode (Homer's web site), and then when the commercial should have appeared, it instead cut to tonight's new episode, already in progress? I'm assuming it was just the local DC FOX station that screwed this one up good.

Every week it seems like some other local station is having problems and forcing me to turn to the Internet to download VCDs of TV shows that I want to watch. I've pretty much given up on UPN already and their constant dropout problems, and now download Buffy ahead of time instead of trying to watch it on cable. Fox has been pretty good, but so much for watching the Simpsons tonight.

So for everyone who doesn't live in DC, how was it?

It's still running now, and I don't know if it's because I'm in a good mood or not but this is one of the best episodes I've seen in a long time!

Agreed, then again I enjoy episodes with Homer and Lisa bonding. Lisa's "home movie" was great.

edit: Anyone know what the couch gag was? My local FOX station was having some technical difficulties.

Pretty good, better than the completely unfunny Futrama earlier.

Great episode - my favorites...

"This is for Bob. Carol. Ted. and Alice."

"Lisa, who's your favorite Travelling Willbury...Jeff Lynn?"

This happened to me too (I get the DC feed on Sat.). It started playing the episode, then was fast forwarding through the show, then it stopped for a bit and had the Fox logo up. After that, 7 min of the "Mr. X" episode. Those bastards at Fox can't screw up when they play "When Animals Attack in Dresses 18" but they screw up their best show. Worthless.

I thought it was pretty good. It was by far not one of the best episodes although Homer's movie about Lisa was a nice excerpt.

It was a black and white shot of the Simpsons sitting on a skyscraper girder eating lunch while watching the TV (sitting on another girder).

It seems for every episode that DVDTalkers like, I dislike. And vice versa.

Hmm...

I thought Ralph's lines in this episode were lame in that most of them were recycled from past episodes.

I liked the line in the Lisa video "mmmmmm, McNuggets". Apparently, FOX wants to sell watches for McDonalds too.

I thought it was good.

The Flanders video killed me. Flanders naming diabetes as one of Rod's hobbies was funny.

Homer falling asleep and naming Maggie as Lisa's best friend was funny also.

"Stupid Flanders, your a genius."

[email protected]. Teehee.

"It's one word: chunkylover53"

The Peta protest was funny, too. I think the best part of the episode was Homer with the black make-up, painting emotions on his face. That was funny.

Overall, it was an okay episode. The usual whininess that comes from a Lisa-centered episode wasn't as strong as usual, so it was ok.

They did another credits segment this week. Is this new? I hadn't noticed it until last week, but they aren't that great. Beats watching a promo for "Joe Millionaire" or whatever.

When did this show become the family guy? EVERY episode seems to start with 2-3 tv/film parodies. I have defended the show for the last 3-4 seasons but it's just become a parody of itself.

Pretty funny episode. I like the parodies, I think tons of simpsons parody movies and tv but maybe they have become more frequent. I liked the ending with Cletus.

No one has mentioned the best one liner all season.

Same with me. I think this season so far has been very good, much better than seasons 11 & 12 as a whole. I was underimpressed with last night's episode.
