Signs

DVD Talk Legend
Of all the complaints about the movie I've read, this one strikes me as the most non-sensical I've ever read.
When I first heard of M. Night's new project, I was intrigued. Then I heard Bruce Willis would not be completing the "unofficial trilogy", and Mel Gibson would be starring. I nearly wrote the movie off right there. I have never been impressed by Gibson, I didn't like Braveheart, don't like the Lethal Weapons, thought What Women Want was peurile drivel.
But I went to see Signs because most of the buzz was good, and I was blown away by Gibson. I was amazed at the sublety and the layers of emotion. The scene with him trying to curse is ROTFL funny!
If you watch the special features, there's a bit where Gibson admits that he has developed acting shortcuts, but Shyamalan wouldn't let him use them. He forced him to really act.
And this belongs in Movie Talk, more specifically the 3 page Signs thread.
