We know the best... what is the worst of 2002?

Okay, blah blah blah, Adaptation and About Schmidt are wonderful la-dee-da. What was the worst movie you saw in 2002 (that was a 2002 movie)?

My pick goes easily to Murder by Numbers, which outpaced runner-up Collateral Damage by several furlongs.

Chelsea Walls, one of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever seen, and the only free advance screening I've been to where 3/4 of the audience left early. Sorry, Ethan.

I would have to give the nod to Windtalkers and New Guy. Both of these movies were a pain to watch.

The worst movie I saw from 2002 was Attack of the Clones. There were probably things out there that were worse, but I'm trying hard not to think about it.

I have a short list of the absolute WORST movies of the year...which in this year, would actually place them in the running for WORST movies of the last 10 years.

in no particular order

THE MASTER OF DISGUISE
EXTREME OPS
SOLARIS
CLOCKSTOPPERS

All of these movies were godawful and almost unwatchable... my lord they sucked!

Rollerball - most painful movie experience since Batman and Robin.
Austin Powers 3 - I should have been laughing but most of the time I was groaning.

Did none of you see Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever? That, Rollerball and Eight Crazy Nights are all stupendously craptacular.

Of the films I saw:

The Count of Monte Cristo
Men in Black II

Some "worst of 2002" lists I found:
http://www.modamag.com/worst2002.htm
http://www.movieeye.com/reviews/get_...view/1053.html

Also, metacritic has quite a few 2002 films on it's all time low scores list. Worst of the wide releases:

State Property
The Adventures of Pluto Nash
Slackers
New Best Friend
Pinocchio
The Master of Disguise
Extreme Ops
Rollerball
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
Serving Sara
feardotcom

...and there are many more 2002 releases on their bottom 200 all-time rankings. Luckily I didn't see most of these!

I avoid the true stinkers, the ones you know are just gonna blow donkey balls -- Hot Chick, Pluto Nash, Rollerball, featdotcom, etc.. But the one movie I saw that truly stank the joint out was .

I probably haven't seen the "worst" since there were so many movies out there I wouldn't pay to see in a theater (and most of the bad ones will show up on cable so I can catch up with all - or part - or some of them later.

But the worst that suckered me into a theater (and yes, I know a lot of people were posting about how much they liked it) was REIGN OF FIRE - soe nice F/X, but even swooping flaming dragons couldn't stem the boredom.

The Sum of All Fears
Reign of Fire
Blood Work (sorry Eastwood fans, but I predicted the killer once I read about who was in the movie)
Swept Away (there goes Guy Ritchie's career if he stays married to Madonna)
The Adventures of Pluto Nash
Scooby-Doo

Oh, and AOTC rocks (despite some atrocious dialogue)

The Time Machine was the worst of 2002, followed by the R rated version of Rollerball. (I refused to see the PG-13 verison), even though there is some nudity in the R version, it still sucked bad.

I really hated The Tuxedo and, putting on my flame-proof suit, The Two Towers. Look in the Two Towers forum if you want to know why.

How can anyone say that "Attack of the Clones" was the worst film in a year where we had Pluto Nash, The Time Machine, and Kung Pao?

Quite easily, because "Attack Of The Clones" was an atrocious, pathetic film. Considering the talent of those involved, the horrendous mass of crap that resulted is all the more painful to see.
