Question about Xbox Live
I've been thinking about getting xbox live and was wondering if you need a router that splits off of your current dsl modem, or can you simply just connect from your phone jack?

f you don't want to get a router then simply unplug your PC from the modem, and connect your Xbox to it. Just make sure it's off before you connect the cable....It's more time consuming, but it'll also save you $50 and compatability issues that arise form
non-supported routers.

My computer dosnt even need to be turned on for Xbox Live. The DSL modem just needs to be powered on and you can plug the Xbox DIRECTLY into the DSLModem. The setup for live on the Xbox is just like a computer. Its pretty easy i just had to get the DNS info from Earthlink, punch the numbers into xbox and it logs onto the net like a computer. I got a router anyway for $39 and my computer and xbox play nice together.
Its great because i thought my DSL was down and i tested it with my Xbox and Xbox could log on when my computer couldnt! Turned out to be a computer prob but its fixed now. ta dah!
